Hello Romance Lovers,
In the coming weeks, I'm going to showcase one black romance author after another and their great books.
Now get yourself a drink and relax because you are about to meet the number one Black Romance Author on my list. His name is Author Lawrence Hall! Lawrence is from Washington DC but now resides in North Carolina, USA.
Author Name: Lawrence Hall Book Title: Bonnie's Game Genre: Reverse Harem Sci-fi Romance |
Drum roll please...
We want to know a bit about your
family life.
I've been married to a beautiful woman for 21 years, and
have 3 teenage children.
What drives you to write romance
stories?
I love storytelling, and I’m a romantic,
and an optimist, so when you put that all together, it’s only natural that I
fell into romance. And it’s true when I say that I fell into this genre. I
wasn’t actively seeking to write romance stories, but when I came across them
and tried my hand at it, I discovered it was a perfect marriage.
Do you have hidden messages woven into
your stories?
I don’t think I do, but the thing
is…with all stories you hear the writer’s heart. What they believe in, their
theme. Because it’s coming from them. So, as far as I know, I don’t have any
hidden messages, but I am an optimist so all my stories will have hope in them.
Because that’s what I believe in. Though, I’m sure there’s some 11th
grade teacher out there that will break down my stories and say that the wooden
door represents man’s freedom or something like that.
What’s the best thing about your
writing and publishing routine?
The best thing honestly is when my
characters do something that was not in my outline. I’m part plotter, part
pantser which means I do an overall outline, but for each scene I write, I only
write a sentence on the outline of what the scene should be about. Then when I
get there, I let my characters take over as I use that sentence to fill in the
rest. It’s great when they surprise me by doing something that I didn’t expect,
but then trying to reign them back in to follow the rest of the outline is
always a challenge.
What steps did you take to publish
your first book?
Ha! My story is a bit different from
other authors I suppose. The only reason I actually released my first book was
because my wife was so addicted to romance novels and spending so much money on
them that I told her “I can write you a story,” thinking that if I wrote her
one then she’d stop spending so much. Little did I know that she would put me
on her tbr list and NEVER READ my book. So, after a few years of sitting on her
tbr list, I just decided to release it on Amazon to see how if other people
might read it. I started an Instagram page and put it out there and voila.
How did you come up with the idea for
your recent book/Who’s your favourite character and why?
My most recent book is called Wing
Woman. I didn’t plan on writing it, I was working on the book I’m releasing
next, which is called Bonnie’s Wish, but as I was writing, a character started
speaking in my mind that was NOT in Bonnie’s Wish. So, I decided to explore who
this character was that pushed through so strongly, and it turned out to be
Crystal, who is the best friend of Maggie, the heroine in Wing Woman. I
actually interviewed her to see what she was about and the story grew from
there.
What’s the hardest thing about the
publishing process?
It’s time intensive. It takes a LOT of
time to get this done.
Why should a new reader buy your
book(s)?
Because they’re awesome! I’m big on
storytelling, so every Lawrence Hall book you get will have a story that you
can get lost in. It’s romance, so the love is the main theme, and I only
believe in HEA or HFNs, but after that each of my books will have humor, steam,
angst, action and drama. Each Lawrence Hall book is an experience.
Working on a new book/project?
Yes. My next book is Bonnie’s Wish, The
Conclusion, which is book two in my reverse harem series. It’s about a woman
that’s stuck in her boyfriend’s video game.
Brag about any awards or badges.
Barnes and Nobles bestseller. I’m proud of that.
Any thoughts on Black Lives Matter Movement?
Yes. We need to keep
protesting, and keep the narrative focused on the systemic injustice and
inequity that we as black people face. We need to keep the pressure on so that
there is real change, and not let anyone coop the story by trying to sidetrack
people and have them focus on rioting or other issues. Let’s keep going so that
we no longer have our sons and daughters afraid of those that claim to protect.

Give readers your final thoughts about anything?
I appreciate you for
giving me the opportunity, and for sharing. Not to sound like a broken record
or anything, but each time someone
takes a moment to read one of my novels, they are in for a fantastic time. I
might be a little biased, but Lawrence Hall books are probably the greatest
thing you’ll ever get your hands on. They have action, drama, love, comedy,
steam, sex, heat, forbidden romance, angst, and everything in between. Let me
know when you leave a review and I’ll come read your thoughts. I love engaging
with readers and fans.
I hope you enjoyed getting to know Author Lawrence Hall.

Don't forget to grab a copy of any of his books!
***Warning - This book ends in a cliffhanger! ***
THIS IS NOT YOUR CHILD'S VIDEO GAME!
It's hard enough being a hardworking teacher, coach, and
professional cheerleader. But when Bonnie Russell comes home after a long day
and finds her boyfriend's face buried in that videogame, the one that takes up
all his time and leaves none of it for her, with his hot friends watching him,
she's had enough. Bonnie does what any woman would do. She
unplugs it, thinking
that would be the end of things. And it would be if the game didn't suck her
and everyone in the room into it.
Now, to return to the real world, Bonnie will have to go on
the most dangerous adventure of her life, deal with the strong sexual charge
that she has with the men that accompany her, and pass the test of a
supernatural being - or stay locked in the game forever.
***Warning - Bonnie's Game is
book one in a two-part series, and is an action-packed, Reverse Harem romance
(in other words...Why Choose?). This book contains strong sexual content,
language, and fantasy violence. It should only be read by mature audiences**

A BIT MORE ABOUT ~ LAWRENCE HALL
What do you get when you mix
Spartacus with Spaceballs? We’re not sure either, but somewhere in there is
Lawrence Hall. A man of few words until he begins speaking, you can often find
him with a smile on his face, until he takes a picture. Then he tries to put on
his best 1990s hardcore hip hop persona, which would be a mix of Tupac Shakur
and Biggie Smalls. Unless MC Hammer is on the radio.
Hailing from the capital city of the USA, he has over 10 years of teaching experience. This means Lawrence has mastered the art of daydreaming and not listening, but pretending he hears and sees everything. He’s the perfect chameleon.
An avid film buff, and lover of HEA, he’s too much of an optimist to want anything else. His motto: I may fall like Autumn but I’ll rise a new season.
Making his debut in May 2019 as a bona fide romance author, you can find him all over your favorite social media. Lawrence loves to engage and invites you to come stalk…I mean…follow him!

Great to have you on my blog, Lawrence. I find the route you took to publish your first book interesting.
I have a few questions for you. I’ll be honest, I’ve never read a romance book written by a guy, so which of your contemporary romance books do you suggest I read and why?
Also, you said cereal is one food you can’t do without? What type of cereals fill you up?
The Frog and the Lady and Wing Woman are the two that I would recommend you start with. They're both standalone and would give you a great feel for the Lawrence Hall Experience. The Frog and the Lady is a short read, but comedic GOLD and Wing Woman is one that's generated a lot of buzz around the concept of a woman teaching men about women. All of my books are incredible reads (my humble opinion lol), but I would start with those two.
Cereal? I actually never eat to get full, I don't like that feeling. So, I'll say none of them fill me up, but right now I am devouring bowls of fruit loops with marshmallows ;-)
Okay Lawrence, I just bought 'Wing Woman' for a start. I like the blurb.
I will remember to include cereal-eating in one of my future books.
I wish you the best. Share the post.
What a great interview and the fact that the author is a man, who writes romance stories, is awesome. Continued success in your writings, Mr. Lawrence Hall.
Thanks Vivienne. I certainly hope to read your review of one (or all) of my book(s) soon 😉
Lol 😂
Feisty, thanks for the support. I know you’re going to LOVE it 😊
Wonderful interview!
