Drum roll please...
We want to know a bit about your family life.
As for family I live with my boyfriend and a cat and dog.
What drives you to write romance stories?
I love a good romance with a mix of fantasy. When I escape in a good romance novel or TV series, for a moment, I just feel happiness. I don’t care if it’s corny or too unbelievable, it’s good to suspend reality for a bit. Themix of supernatural also gives it that extra excitement for me.
Do you have hidden messages woven into your stories?
No hidden messages but I aim to make my characters as diverse as
possible. I rarely saw characters like me in the world of fantasy so now that
I’m writing black characters I also make an effort to add characters of other
races and of the lgbtq+ community to be as inclusive as possible because
representation is needed. Maybe a teenager can feel inspired to write as well
when they read more diverse books.
What’s the best thing about your writing and publishing routine?
The best thing is a feeling of purpose. I was able to really use
the down time we all got from being in stay at home status to focus and write.
It kept my mind of the stress off the world.
What steps did you take to publish your first book?
I researched and made mistakes! It was my second book and the first in my series, Paranormal World, that I learned most of my lessons. I joined writer and reader groups, connected with author friends, read tons of writing, publishing and marketing books and took tons of marketing webinars.

How did you come up with the idea for
your recent book/Who’s your favourite character and why?
I’d been having this idea float around my head for years. I’d
dream about it! So finally I put pen to paper and wrote it. What would happen
if we lived in a paranormal world but it was apocalyptic? What if most of us
had powers? A world full of superheroes and villains?
My favorite character is the lead Amina. My readers may beg to differ because there are so many other characters but I find her flawed, like me. She is over analytical and sometimes too trusting. All things I’ve dealt with, especially when I was younger. She’s on a journey and she will grow. Just like I did. I really wanted a heroine that wasn’t always sure of herself and made mistakes. Just like real people.

What’s the hardest thing about the
publishing process?
Marketing hands down. The time, the money, the overwhelming
amount of material to review. It’s a business and you can’t neglect it.
Why should a new reader buy your
book(s)?
If you’re into action, humour, romance and love urban fantasy then you’ll like my series. It’s diverse and unique in that it’s in a post-apocalyptic setting with an avengers/justice league type of team. And did I say romance?
Working on a new book/project?
Yes, I’m working on the final book for the Paranormal World Series and I have a new vampire novel, set in the same world, that will come out in an anthology series in October.
Brag about any awards or badges.

Any thoughts on Black Lives Matter?
I’m in full support of this movement and any movement that fights against systematic racism and discrimination. I work as a professional, in civil rights/employment discrimination so it is a passion. It’s why I went to law school. I see the need in so many facets of our life to have equality from the books we read to our interactions with police. Right now, feels like a time of change and I hope the nation grows from this momentum.

Felix Gonzalez was fine navigating the new world created by the
magical apocalypse not knowing his past or what he had become. With the power
of The Six and his guardian angel, Azrael, he stopped questioning why his mind
wasn’t quite right or how he could kill with just a simple touch.
Then he met her.
Francesca Ross always seemed comfortable with her life as
a fairy warrior until her impending nuptials to a king of the underworld. Then an old friend brings news that changes her world and priorities.
Seizing a way out, she goes on the run to search for answers to her past and meets a man that might change her future. But will the truths they uncover about themselves upset the balance between good and evil?

Lovely to have you on my blog, Catherine. I enjoyed getting to know you through the interview.
To my question, would you consider writing another romance genre?
My second question is, does your boyfriend support you in your writing? If so, in what way?
Great read!
I'm probably sticking with paranormal as it interest me the most. Although I do read chick lit/contemporary romance and my first novel was in that area so who knows. As far as my boyfriend supporting, yes. He spreads the world although this isn't the type of genre he reads. All my family and friends have been super supportive even his parents.
Thanks!
