We want to know a bit about your family?
What drives you to write romance stories?
I have six sisters and 2 brothers. I'm divorced but I have two beautiful granddaughters I love so much from my son, May God rest his soul. Now, I'm a teacher by trade.
What drives you to write romance stories?
I don't
specifically write romance. I write books in different genres. Depends on my
muse.
Do you have hidden messages woven into your stories?
I do sometimes
have hidden messages woven into my stories.
What’s the best thing about your writing and publishing routine?
The best
thing about my writing and publishing routine is that I am under no pressure to
meet any deadlines. When I write, I am purging myself, so I do it at my convenience.
What steps did you take to publish your first book?
Love Me Sane is
my first book that I published and sold. I didn't take any steps because my
intentions were not to sell the book. I came up with the idea of the book when
I was trying to process some emotions. However, I did not want anyone to know
this book was about me so I added some details that changed the book from an
auto biography to realistic fiction.
For example, I was never married to a
preacher however my friend that I talk about at the beginning of the book did
actually marry a police officer. When you experience trauma and you can create
your own ending it gives you power over your situation. Power is what changed
me from a victim to a survivor.
How did you come up with the idea for your recent book/Who’s your favourite character and why?
My
favorite character in the book is Kristen, Kristen actually played the role in
my life that my son has played. My driving force for remaining sane through it
all. Which ironically this book no longer contains the worse things that
have happened to me. My son is no longer with me on Earth so once again
life is a challenge.
This is a different level than before. Before, the challenge
was maintaining my sanity for the sake of my son. Now, the challenge is
realizing that losing my son is going to cause me to evolve into someone else. I
stick around every day to find out who that person is because once the
discovery is made, I will know my life's purpose.
What’s the hardest thing about the publishing process?
The
hardest thing for me during the publishing process was formatting the book.
Technology is not my friend. So, once I downloaded the book, I felt a sense of
accomplishment. The formatting still is not perfect.
The second hardest thing
for me was the amount of slang that I used. I am a communications major so that
was difficult. However, at one time, I exchanged readings with a beta reader
and her comment was, "people don't talk like that" so, I changed my
verbiage. This meant I had to be very selective with who I have shared the book
with.
Why should a new reader buy your book(s)?
I think people would enjoy my voice. My characters are often relatable even though their stories are dramatic with a lot of plot twists.
Working on a new book/project?
Yes, I am working on a sequel to Love Me Sane titled, Beyond Transgressions.
I have 3 books in my head at the same time. Totally different topics. I intend to write a book on improving race relations some day.
Brag about any awards or badges?
None yet.
Any thoughts on Black Lives Matter Movement?
My thought
on the Black Lives Matter Movement is that it needs a brother company that
unites blacks so they can stop killing each other.

Read the blurb of Tralisa 's book, Love Me Sane below:
My name is
Stacey Jones. I honestly believe that my sole purpose for being on Earth is to
establish a solid trusting relationship with a loving God so that I may spend
an eternity with him in heaven. How can I build a connection with a God who
sometimes seems evasive, unrealistic and egocentric? I should be ashamed to say
this, but I've blessed and cursed Jesus in the same breath. Later, I'm asking
for forgiveness. Is this too much information for the "perfect
Christian"?
I'm sure you've passed all tested trials with flying colors.
You think this is a secret I should keep to myself? I disagree.
I wish I could
say life's been good and worth living, but there have been many days when I've
begged the "Good Lord" to take me out of here. I've always been
somebody's perfect victim. My questions scare the "ideal Christians."
I pretend like everything's okay, singing songs of praise and worshipping a God
I don't understand, who disappears just when I think I'm getting close to him.
Rod believes this is blasphemy so I'm trapped. I look to heaven and scream,
"Enough already." I don't want to go to hell. I've taken chances on
Rod's convictions. But, now I've reached my spiritual bottom. His faith can no
longer sustain me. I'm not ashamed to ask, "Will you trudge with me on
this journey to find my God?

A BIT MORE ABOUT ~ Tralisa McNeal
I am a new and aspiring author from Indianapolis, Indiana. I am a Speech Communication BA graduate from Indiana University and I have a Master's of Science in Leadership from Grand Canyon. I write stories from my heart. I originally
started writing as a way to manage life's daily challenges. I share experiences
with the protagonist in my debut novel, Love Me Sane so often times these events were
written from a first-hand perspective. The reason this is a fiction book
instead of non-fiction is because not all of our experiences are exactly the
same.
