About your family/background, your location:



I’m the queen, princess, and jester of my family of six that include my husband, four teenage boys, and two boy dogs! We live in Kentucky.
What genre do you write? And why?

I write women’s fiction and cozy mystery.

What other genre interest you?

I love to read anything! Anything I can get my hands on.

What is the story behind your book?


I grew up in a small town and LOVED everything that came with it when I got older, and didn’t live there anymore. So it’s sorta a tribute or shout out to those small towns and how it made me appreciate it!


How do you decide your book cover?
I work with a cover artist who asks a lot of questions about the book and we brain storm. She comes up with a couple of different mock-ups and we tweak, until we agree.

Do you think readers decide based on book cover or book title?

Definitely a good book cover is the first thing they see.


If you write fiction; What’s the source of your inspiration? How much of YOU show up in your writing?


Hmmm...I think a little bit of me shows up in each book. It’s just natural for me to put in a part of a memory or situation.
Use one word/phrase to describe your book:

Quirky.

How have you found the writing process?

With four teenage boys in sports, my writing process is all over the board. I might write in car line, doctor’s offices, sporting practices, sporting games, middle of the night-you name it.

Have you ever experienced writer’s block? How did you tackle it?

I've never had writer's block. I will say that when I do have a hard time coming up with a scene, I start to write long hand instead of my computer. I just let the words flow on paper and then transfer them to the screen.

Do you have a blog? What do you write about?

I have two grogs with a few other writers. The Naked Hero(http://thenakedhero.com/) is fun because we “strip heroes/heroines/villains” down to the scivvies. We explore all the archetypes and why we love and hate certain characters. It’s FUN!!

I also co-founded The Writer’s Guide To E Publishing (http://thewritersguidetoepublishing.com/). The four of my grog partners felt that e publishing was just taking the writing world by storm and we wanted to be a writers one-stop shop about the electronic world. You can find out everything you need to know from big NYC publishing to self publishing. It’s a fantastic site.

What books are on your shelf at home?

A lot of Jane Porter, Heather Weber, D.D. Scott, Misa Ramirez, Talli Roland, Barbara Silkstone, Sibel Hodge, and classics.

Any awards/achievement you want to share?

I had three book signings and all three SOLD OUT!! I was pretty pumped!!! (fist pumping in air).

Who’s your favourite author?

I wanted to answer this with something super deep, but I just can’t. It has to be Jane Porter!!!

What are you good at as an individual?

What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why?

I love to read a good book and get lost in another world.

What are your other interests?

I love yoga, walking my dogs, and just relaxing with my family.

Oh, I have two amazing Schnauzer dogs that lay at my feet or walk by my side.

To be able to touch readers around the world with my words.

What would you say you’re bad at?

Sleeping.

What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done?

I really can't recall a really embarrassing moment! I embarrass myself all the time and I just roll with the punches!!

Anything else your readers don’t know about you?

I've always wanted to open a no-kill animal shelter and have every animal. My heart is so big for all creatures.

My books are fun, and will have you experiencing every emotion in your body while making you smile and laugh.

About your family/background, your location:

I’m the daughter of a college professor and a mother who was the world’s best stay-at-home mother and housekeeper. I was born in North Carolina but my family is from Central Virginia. Recently widowed, I now I reside in West Texas with a Chocolate Labrador that has a sock fetish.

How and why did you decide to get published?

It’s a passion. I was working as a consultant back in 1995 when I decided to pursue it professionally.

What genre do you write? And why?

I write more than one; thus, I write under three different names. Originally published as Terry Campbell, a collaboration with writer Linda Campbell, our team brought out three romantic comedies, Mr. Wrong, Intimate Investor and Fat Chance, which have recently been released in e-book and two of the three have been Amazon top-100 bestsellers. We now have two books out with 2011 copyrights: Craigs’ Legacy, a rewritten formerly published work, and Slam Sisters of Serendipity. Craigs’ Legacy, an historical time travel romance that was released through Black Opal Books, received a Top-Pick from The Romance Reviews. Slam Sisters of Serendipity was just released through Eternal Press and is a set of chronologically-ordered cozy mysteries. We also have a short work in e-book entitled Soul Patrol and will be releasing another one, Under Paris Skies, in the near future.

As Bobbye Terry, I write women’s fiction and suspense. I have one novella out, Buried in Briny Bay which is receiving rave reviews. It is part of a series of cozy mysteries. Book 2, The Marriage Murders, comes out in July. I have a longer series, still full of Southern charm but with grittier scenes, coming out in September with Book 1, Coming to Climax. These books are published through Turquoise Morning Press. I also have a newly begun contemporary romance series, “The Lipstick Girls.” Rose is the only book that has been released so far. This is indie published.

As Daryn Cross, I write fantasy/sci-fi romance. Currently, I have an indie series, “The Cash Chronicles,” with three books released: Millicent(a historical prequel), Frozen Assets and Full Moon Rising (cyberpunk romance). I hope to have Kenada, another short book about the mystic in the series, out this month. These are indie published, but I have a series about walk-in angels, starting with Walk Right In, releasing from L&L Dreamspell in October and an epic series, “The Book of the Beginning,” about a rare breed of elves who fight an evil wizard to save their race releasing through Turquoise Morning Press in February 2012 with Honey Blood and the Collector.

What other genre interest you?

I’m very eclectic so I have to say most. I am not a big literary fiction fan, though.

What is the story behind your book?

It depends on which one you want me to talk about. Here’s a blurb for Slam Sisters of Serendipity:

How do you decide your book cover?

I primarily use the same graphic designer, Dawne Dominique, for my indie books. My publishers usually give me a lot of leeway on designing covers. Dawne has done some for me for small press as well. Usually, it’s a collaborative effort between publisher designer and me to decide the finished product.

Do you think readers decide based on book cover or book title?

Both, plus the blurb and/or beginning of the book.

If you write fiction; What’s the source of your inspiration? How much of YOU show up in your writing?

There’s a lot of me in my books, but I can also play a role. Gee, everything is inspiration, from the evening news to a conversation overheard at the next table during lunch.

Fun.

How have you found the writing process?

Rewarding. I love to create but it is also a lot of work to get it right.

Have you ever experienced writer’s block? How did you tackle it?

Not often but I recently went through a humdinger of one, mainly because I was laid off from a day job and was concerned about making a living. That has now been remedied, so I’m back in full swing. Not as many as there used to be—most are on my Kindle. Again, the genres are all over the place.

Any awards/achievement you want to share?

Terry Campbell is a two-time Booksellers’ Best finalist and an EPIC finalist. I shortlisted in The Crime Writer Association’s Debut Dagger and have been a finalist in several RWA chapter contests.

Who’s your favourite author?

I can’t name just one.

What are you good at as an individual?

I am a great cook and used to be an award-winning tennis player. In my career, I’m very good at analysing and explaining government regulations and legislation.

What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why?

I love to read. I like some movies and enjoy relaxing music.

What are your other interests?

I just love to be out in nature.

Your favourite pet?

My Labrador.

What’s your choice meal/favourite restaurant?

Seafood but it better be great. I lived too long next to the ocean.

What’s your music choice?

I prefer jazz, especially with saxophone.

Name your favourite city in the world.

I’m not much of a world traveller. Mostly in North and Central America only. Chicago rates on up there and so does Lake Tahoe.

Name your favourite world leader and why.

Now or ever? John F. Kennedy was one because of his vision.

If you had one wish, what would it be?

That no one went hungry or was abused.

If you can change one thing, what would it be?

Eradicate global warfare.

What would you say you’re bad at?

Anything mechanical. Electrical, fine, but ask me to assemble a piece o furniture in umpteen different pieces and forget it.

What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done?

It’s too embarrassing to say.

I once won a Charleston contest.

What’s your favourite quote?

No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.

About your family/background, your location:

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri (USA). We moved to Seattle, Washington, when my children were teenagers. I’d always loved the green, the rain, and the water. It was a perfect place for me. I still think of it as home. When the children were all grown, I moved around the country and got to enjoy different places and people. I’ve lived in Hamilton, Ohio; Pacific Grove and Salinas, California, and now reside near Raleigh, North Carolina.

How and why did you decide to get published?

In 2007, I started thinking about retirement. It all began when I told a friend about finding out that my mother’s birth and death certificates showed two different maiden names. My right-sided brain immediately started coming up with reasons why my mother had obviously kept her first marriage a secret. When I shared the “story”, my friend said, “You should write a book!” That was the beginning of “Where is Harry?”.


What genre do you write?

My novels (there are 9 published and two more on the burner) all include elements of romance, mystery, and history.

What is the story behind your book?


One is a sweet little romance, “Elusive.” This is a love story that begins in 1725 Scotland. A secret takes the story to France, where 200 years later it causes murder and pain. The heroine tries to escape danger by going to her family’s homeland. Instead of safety, she meets a man of mystery who is either trying to save her life or kill her. Only her heart can help her determine which.

There is a detective series, The Preston Andrews Mysteries, of which three are published and two are still in the works. These are the stories of Preston Andrews (Press to his friends), a homicide detective for the Virginia Beach Police
Department. Press has a number of issues going on in his life when his story begins. He is ending a live-in arrangement with a woman he is very fond of, but not in love with. His family (his father is a U.S. Senator from wealth and prestige) doesn’t approve of his choice of occupation. His baby sister is no longer a baby, and she’s out to prove it—isn’t currently speaking to him, although she loves him to death. His dog now weighs almost 200 lbs. and has failed 4 obedience classes. Then, murder gets added to the mix.

In “Press’d Into Action”, Press is volunteered by FBI Director Malcolm Probst.
Probst nearly got Press killed last year, so he’s not happy! He is given a team of two FBI agents to assist him in catching a serial killer. One member of his team is tall, lean, auburn-haired, freckle-face—oh, and did I mention gorgeous—Rachel Wilding.

In “Press’d To The Wall”, Press gets involved in finding a serial killer in Seattle. This time he volunteers. Someone close to him has been grabbed by the nut-job
murdering women all over Seattle. His team includes his partner, Detective Trace Evans; his friend, ex-special ops, ex-just-about-anything-covert-and-dangerous, Palmer; and his dad, U.S. Senator William Andrews. They are in a race against time.

Two are trilogies.


“Intersections: Love, Betrayal, Murder” takes place between 1880s Ohio, 1900 Minnesota, and 1920s-1960s Chicago. The lives of three people, each with their own story of loss and betrayal, intersect in the early 1900s. This intersection of individual lives causes changes that will impact each of them forever.

“Tiwa Valley Brothers In Blood” is a New Mexico saga that begins in the 1880s era of the Pony Express and picks up again in the 1960s. A young Pony Express rider
reunites with friends of the Tiwa tribe. His marriage to the chief’s daughter and his close friendship with her brother begins 100 years of friendship, family, and danger. In modern New Mexico, their descendants face destruction of property, murder, blackmail, and a threat to their very existence.

“Elusive”: How a decision made 200 years ago impacts a young woman’s life in the 20th century.
“Tiwa Valley Brothers In Blood”: How a chance meeting 100 years earlier led to a dynasty of wealth, genius, and hard work by three men whose tie will bind them forever.
“Hard Press’d”: How a top notch homicide detective balances family, love, life—and murder.
“Press’d Into Action”: Someone is killing people and leaving them “on display” a year later, and, when he gets volunteered to help on the investigation, Press is determined to stop him.
“Press’d To The Wall”: It’s a man’s effort to keep someone he loves alive, despite what he sees as incompetence, interference, and just plain stupidity, without losing himself in the effort.

How have you found the writing process?

I never really understood what writers meant about the stories “writing themselves” until I started writing. From then on, the stories take me where they take me. Sometimes it’s sweet and lovely; sometimes it’s dark and scary. Wherever my characters lead me, I take my readers along for the ride.

Do you have a blog? What do you write about?

No. I use facebook and have an author page where I keep my fans up-to-date on what’s going on with my work. I also have discussions on that page that my readers are welcome to join in. This is a new feature for me and is still in development. Participation from more readers would get it off the ground.

What books are on your shelf at home?

Oh, lots of Nora Roberts (yes, and J.D. Robb), Lisa Jackson, Janet Evanovich, Sandra Brown, Tami Hoag…see a pattern here?

Any awards/achievement you want to share?

Not at the moment.

Who’s your favourite author?

It’s a tossup between Nora Robert/J.D. Robb and Sandra Brown. If forced to choose, Nora!

What are you good at as an individual?

I am a right-brained person. I paint in acrylics, write my books, create beautiful gardens, cook and bake with great enthusiasm and success.

What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why?

Give me a good movie or book any day! I just love having entertainment handed to me effortlessly. What could be cozier than reading in bed on a wintery night, or sitting in an air-conditioned theatre in the summer?

What are your other interests?

History. I come from John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of Mayflower fame. Then there is a forefather whose family left Scotland for Ireland, then immigrated to America just before the revolution. So, history has been ingrained in me from an early age.

Your favourite pet?

My 17 lb. cat and 14 lb. dog. One is unbelievably a feisty individualist (the cat) and the other is a love bug that follows we everywhere (the dog). Both give unconditional love!

What’s your choice meal/favourite restaurant?

I love seafood. But my favorite places to eat are Jewish Mother’s and Purple Cow in Virginia Beach. Oh, yum. The Jewish cuisine of my high school days, and the she-crab soup with its hot, thick cheese topping—now I’m getting hungry!

What’s your music choice?

Oh, boy! Aerosmith, Jason Mraz, Il Divo, Credence Clearwater—eclectic enough for you?

Name your favourite city in the world:

A place with water, food, green…see another pattern here.

Name your favourite world leader and why:

Right now it has to be our President, Obama. He was handed a very tough job during the worst crisis we’ve faced since 1929 and, despite the criticism, hate-speech, and dirty tricks of the members of Congress, has remained calm, cool, well-spoken, and above the fray. This man is a well-educated gentleman—we’re not used to that in the White House!

If you had one wish, what would it be?

Peace and understanding in the Middle East. They’ve been at it for thousands of years—I continue to hope that someday, they’ll learn to work together, not against each other.

What would you say you’re bad at?

Patience. I have absolutely no patience with stupidity. There, I’ve said it! Think before you speak and speak with wisdom—it might require reading a book or two.

Anything else your readers don’t know about you?

I have a granddaughter about to graduate from high school and ship off to basic training at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. This is my doll baby, the girl who travelled with me every Christmas holiday to Virginia Beach. There we launched our trips into history hunting—DC’s Smithsonian, Arlington Cemetery, Library of Congress, etc.; Philadelphia, and Williamsburg. Oh, how I’m going to miss that girl!

What’s your favourite quote?

“I'm growing older but not UP.
My metabolic rate is pleasantly STUCK!
the winds of time blow over my head .
I'd rather die while I'm LIVING,
Than live when I’m DEAD!”

Why should a reader buy your book?

My novels are steeped in beautiful scenery, rich history, sweet or sexy romance, and real characters. Chances are you won’t be ambivalent about my characters. They pull you in. You either love them or hate them.

About your family/background, your location:

I was born and raised in South Western Wisconsin. Still haven’t made it out of there either.

How and why did you decide to get published?

I’ve been writing since I was in middle school, starting with the sequel to Michael Chritons book, “Jurassic Park”, still have those pages too. I was making up stories and I’ve had an active imagination since I was quite young though. Once I got into the upper grades of schooling, and my writing improved, I started to think about getting my work out there for all to see.

What genre do you write? And why?

I’m a multi genre type of guy it seems. I love writing suspense and horror. There’s a bit of romance tossed into my sci-fi and thrillers, plus a bit of psychological and paranormal. I guess it’s true as to what you read is what you write since I have always enjoyed reading whatever I could get my hands on.

What is the story behind your book?


The story behind Freaks, Geeks, and Scary Things, is that it started as a present for my mother who has gone through some bad times. I wanted to give her something that I made myself, and since she was mainly my inspiration for really starting to write, I put together a collection of stories I had written over the years. Once it was together, I thought to myself, “these are good stories, and I’ve tried magazines already... So I looked up self publishing for a larger crowd.


The background of Life Coin is that I wrote the short story *seen in Freaks, Geeks, and Scary Things* and realized that I had more to say. There was a larger story I wanted to tell about the characters and the ripples they created in time.


How do you decide your book cover?

I was lucky in this regard. My current job put me into contact with a co-worker who is a graphic designer. He read my stories and the Life Coin short, and was more than willing to do some freelance work on my covers. As for the images, we worked together (though I will say it was mostly his ideas, initially) to come up with something that reflects the interior of the book.

Do you think readers decide based on book cover or book title?

Myself being a reader, I can honestly say that a good book cover or an interesting title will at least get me to grab the book to look it over. While I am not always sold on the fiction included, it’s that initial glance over the shelves that draws a reader in. It’s worth putting the same, or at least close to the same, amount of time you did on the fiction or interior as you do the exterior.

If you write fiction; What’s the source of your inspiration? How much of YOU show up in your writing?

As many writers and authors before me have said, there is no one source of inspiration. My second book, Life Coin, came from a short story that was inspired by a 30 second commercial about life insurance a few years ago. Other than that, my mind is always working on something. It’ll be a song lyric, a movie, a book, a conversation with friends, anything of the sort may be the catalyst to get my imagination going as to how I could turn that into MY story. How much of me shows up is up to myself. There are characters I’ve written that honestly could be named directly after myself, and some that are so out of myself that I don’t know how they are living in my book.

Life Coin: A romantic tale of two souls connected at first sight.

Freaks, Geeks, and Scary Things: A ride into the dark recesses of the human psyche.

How have you found the writing process?

It’s sometimes a long and drawn out time, but if what you are doing fills you with enthusiasm, hours can go by before you realize.

Have you ever experienced writer’s block? How did you tackle it?

Once, for about three years due to work and other constraints, as far as overcoming it, I guess it really took talking with a friend about a story I had started, *Life Coin short story* and having them say “I want to read that!” That’s when I realized, ‘okay, I gotta finish this someway, somehow.’ I sat down to write that afternoon and added another five pages to the first 10 that had been sitting on my zip drive for too long.

Do you have a blog? What do you write about?

I do have a blog at www.strangeasfiction.wordpress.com. As of now, it is mainly updates about how things are going with the marketing and selling of the books. There are also some of my stories on it for readers to get a glimpse of my style. I’m working on adding more to it. Lately though, there has been one book review included, hoping for more as time goes on.

What books are on your shelf at home?

Right now, my bookshelf is a small area of the apartment I’m living in. So, I've only the good ones that I can read over and over. J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter series, a few of my favourite Stephen King novels *Misery, Carrie, Four Past Midnight...* and of course, the essentials of writing... guides, dictionary, and the like. As well as a few Star Wars novels...gotta have my connection to the galaxy far, far away.

Any awards/achievement you want to share?

Currently have none, hoping to change that soon though.

Who’s your favourite author?

That’s not fair. But if I must, Stephen King. In a close match with Drew Karpashyn, Max Brooks, J.K. Rowling and R.A. Salvatore.

What are you good at as an individual?

I am good at looking beyond what I see. I think it comes in part from being a writer, it has opened my mind to see what others may or what may be behind some statemen

What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why?

I feel like I’m betraying my own art to say it. But I love movies. The good ones that will draw you into their world and before you know it, it’s over...and, you don’t want it to end. While I enjoy curling up and losing myself in a good book, movies still top the list.

What are your other interests?

I also like to take walks while listening to music, or go for hikes and listen to nature. I like to wander around the mall, stopping at odd stores or small areas to see what new things are out there.

Your favourite pet?

We've had many in my time, the one that sits highest to me though would be our old mutt we had since I was young. He was my brother, he was six months when i was a year old.

What’s your choice meal/favourite restaurant?

Right now, I could so go for some BBQ Chicken from Famous Daves.

What’s your music choice?

Mostly rock, metal, classic rock, some pop music has caught my eye though.

Name your favourite city in the world.

I don’t know if I have a favourite, but there is one I would love to see sooner rather than later. London.

Name your favourite world leader and why.

Not really a big fan of any current one, though I like where President Obama is going. Now if we can give him more time.

If you had one wish, what would it be?

The selfish marketing side of my brain says, “that more and more people will be entranced by my books and buy them”. While the more rational part says, “That those who do read my books, will come away changed by the experience.”

If you can change one thing, what would it be?

Rid the world of hatred and intolerance so that we as the human race can move forward to a brighter and better future. When we finally come together as a society, only then will we be nearer to cracking the secret of warp drive technology to boldly go where no one has gone before!

What would you say you’re bad at?

While writing: being overly self critical about what I’ve written, even in just the rough state. In life: fixing cars.

What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done?

I've done my fair share of embarrassing things, but they escape me at the moment. I will tell the story of the time my cousin, a few friends and I were hanging out. And for some reason, I decided it would be a good idea to hang onto the roof of my cousin's car while he drove it around the block. As you can tell, I survived, save for the instance of getting off the roof when my cousin hit the gas and flung me off, with my arm being run over by his rear tire. No injuries to report though, save for the wicked case of, "what the heck was I thinking?"

Anything else your readers don’t know about you?

I write for you, reader. That is my major goal in my design. I come up with interesting tales that really grab my own attention, but I write them in a way that, I hope, grabs YOUR attention.

About your family/background, your location:

I come from a large family of six, in Edo State, Nigeria. I'm married to my best friend and sweetheart, Augustine and, we have two lovely and caring children who are keeping us thoroughly occupied. My daughter insisted I use her name in one of my books, and I did (The Gardener's Ice Maiden)! We live in Bromley, Kent, United Kingdom.


I have always taken significant pleasure in writing drama scripts as far back as when I was in St. Maria Goretti Girls Grammar School in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. With a B.Sc (Hons) in Microbiology, an Executive Masters in Business Administration and over fifteen years experience working as a Food Safety Professional, I knew I was missing out on not utilizing my literary talent.


As a result of my resolute passion for reading and writing romance novels, in 2010, I created Flirty & Feisty Romance Novel stable. Since I published my very first inspirational romance novel; LOITERING SHADOWS in May 2010, there has been no stopping me bubbling with so much more intriguing fiction to tell.

I'm also the author of other inspirational, contemporary romance titles; STORMY DEFENSE, BEYOND the LADY and the National Novel Writing Month 2010 winning novel, THE GARDENER’s ICE MAIDEN.


How and why did you decide to get published?


I spoke with a colleague where I worked as a Quality Assurance Manager in a Bakery in August 2008. I told her I’d like to get published. She asked me, ‘What’s stopping you?’ I told her, I didn’t know. She stuck a reporter’s notebook and a pen in my unsure hands, and told me to write anything that came to my mind as I commuted from Reading to Earlsfield(UK) daily.

After I wrote my first book, I wanted to publish it. I’d read a lot about how authors get rejected. One day on the train, I saw a book left on the train written by a self-published author. Surfing the internet, I read all about self-publishing. I got published because I wanted to immortalize the message that God’s love transcends any barrier using a medium am passionate about - romance.

What genre do you write?

Fiction, romance, contemporary.

What is the story behind your book(s)?



I’ve published four books. The fifth title (SPARKLING DAWN) is being edited. I write tales drawn from personal experiences, from others, from what I glean around and the interesting dimensions my mind dreams up. My four books have covered controversial themes of racial barrier, prostitution, age gap, the stigma of having a child out of wedlock & single motherhood. And in my fifth, I’ve tucked in rape.

If you write fiction; what’s the source of your inspiration? How much of YOU show up in your writing?


I write fiction. My inspiration comes from God. I go to bed and when I wake up on many occasion, I’ve a story or conversation swirling around in my heart and head. As I start to reflect more on the story, I realize I’ve enough experience to begin writing. And where I get stuck, I research more to write a novel.

A lot of who I am shows up in my writing. I love witty conversation, flavoured with imagery. My writing is an embodiment of my life experiences, passion for romance and a flair for sharp and amusing dialogue.


Describe your book(s) in a single sentence:

Witty, emotionally intense and suspense filled.

How have you found the writing process?

Interesting, intense, painstaking and fulfilling.

Do you experience writer’s block/how did you overcome it?

Once in a while I do. I simply stop typing. Go on to do other things and come back after a few hours or after a day...and it flows.

Do you have a blog? What do you write about?

Yes. My blog is a platform to promote love, warmth & passion in relationships. I write about everyday knotty issues in relationships.

What are you good at as an individual?

Writing fiction, cooking traditional Nigerian dishes, hat making, making people feel welcome & at home etc.

What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why?

Watching films in the Cinema. Watching romantic films, drama & reality shows on TV. I find it engaging, heart warming and relaxing. I can laugh and cry.

What are your other interests?

In my spare time, I love to swim, read, bake and wrap myself up to watch my favourite TV shows. How I love to travel!

Your preferred pet?

My son asks me this question all the time. I don’t have pets. I love birds.

What’s your choice meal/favourite restaurant?

Fried plantain & eggs. Any restaurant that serves spicy and tasty meals will be tops for me.

What’s your music choice?

Blues, pop and gospel music.

Name your much-loved city in the world.

I have never been to Venice (Italy). I’d love to see the canals and gondolas. Another city calling me to visit is Las Vegas. I love the glam and the lights.

Name your choice world leader (past/present) and why.

Bill Clinton (former president, USA). Effective foreign policy of dialogue & partnership. Charming, with flawed character, overcoming Monika gate affair. Brought love and respect to the American people.

If you had one wish, what would it be?

To land a multimillion pounds book deal! I love and enjoy writing and creating stories.

What would you say you’re bad at?

Do-It-Yourself, physics, map reading. My sense of direction is laughable and pathetic!

What's the most embarassing thing you've done?

Hmmm...Can't pin point one act. Can I really be embarassed? I doubt it. I'll probably laugh and dust it off! Oh...I remember now...when my husband kissed me on our wedding day 12 years ago in front of a massive crowd without warning! Yes...since then, I've got used to his lovely kisses in public.

What are you squeamish about?

Creepy crawlies. Can't stand slippery stuff! And I'm squeamish when I see blood or watch violence in a film. Just not for me.

Anything else your readers don’t know about you?

I drink a glass of warm water each morning. Helps me clean out my system. Try it. I only started it months ago. I listen to church hymns on youtube before I fall asleep.

What’s your favourite quote?

Be of good cheer, don’t be afraid.

It’s the recipe to knock out the stress of daily living, cure you of boredom, make you laugh, keep you drooling in suspense, drawing you into an intensely emotional cycle. And for their sheer entertainment value.

About your family/background, your location:

I have been reading for over 40 years and writing for 12 years. Splintered: Sierra’s Legacy is my first completed work. I currently live in the great Northwest in the USA and am located in the panhandle of Idaho. I come from a large family. There were nine of us. My own family is a bit smaller with two wonderful daughters, and four grandchildren.

How and why did you decide to get published?

I initially started the traditional route, looking for an agent, but many of the authors I review convinced me to self-publish. The love and the freedom it gives, made me decide to give it a try. My oldest daughter is an avid reader and she loved the premise of the book and encouraged me to take it all the way.

What genre do you write?

Fantasy, although I am also working on a Cosy Mystery featuring, two sleuths who are sisters and total opposites of each other. It is still in the early stages, so we will see how it works out.

What is the story behind your book?


I have always loved the fantasy and magic genre and when I took a challenge for the National Writing program, I sat down without a real decision on what I would be writing. I had a dream the prior evening, and it weaved itself into the mix, and as I sat to write, the novel began to write itself.

If you write fiction; What’s the source of your inspiration? How much of YOU show up in your writing?

I have always used reading to escape the confines of the real world, and found that I could be anything I wanted to be through reading. I could become the hero of the book and the adventures became mine. I feel that who I am on the inside certainly plays a part in my stories, my inner child often finds herself a part of the mix.

Use one word/phrase to describe your book:

Uplifting.

How have you found the writing process?

I love the process of the writing itself, I am not quite as fond of the editing. Although, it is awesome to watch the book become more polished and precise through that process.

Do you have a blog? What do you write about?

Yes, I read and review books for Authors, many of the Indie Authors. I review from the US, Europe and other countries. I post reviews on many different venues and really enjoy the work. Because I get so many books, it makes it a bit difficult to work on my own but I work it out. I post reviews on my own website, Blog Critics, The Romance Reviews, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Good Reads, Library Thing and Shelfari. I also try to always tweet a link for extra exposure. My Blog Critic reviews are often picked up by the Seattle PI and I have had at least one make it as far as the Huffington Post.

What books are on your shelf at home?

I am very eclectic, I read contemporary literature, suspense, thrillers, fantasy, science fiction, romance and just about everything else. I do not read much non-fiction; I enjoy the ability to become the protagonist too much.

Any awards/achievement you want to share?

I do not have any awards at this time. I am newly published, and hope to garner some interest in the book world. I will have to wait and see what the future brings.

Who’s your favourite author?

At this time, I really enjoy Laurel Dewey, she has a great mix of mystery, suspense and a bit of the paranormal thrown in. It is intoxicating, and a great reading experience.

What are you good at as an individual?

Being from such a large family and being the middle child, I have always been the peace keeper. I also believe I get things easier than some people. I have a very open mind and try to never have preconceived notions and so listen just a bit better. When I review, I try to bring some of that to the table.

What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why?

I love reading and writing. Second to that is movies, and I especially like musicals. They are often corny but always uplifting, full of rhythm and easy to talk about.

What are your other interests?

Hmmm, I would have to say it is travel, because I can read, and spend time with my family.

Your favourite pet?

My favourite pet was our Chinese Sharpai that just passed away a few years ago. She was a wonderful friend and companion. I have not been able to think about replacing her yet.

What’s your choice meal/favourite restaurant?

Actually, my husband is a gourmet chef, albeit a stay at home one, and there is no one that does a better meal. He learned a great deal from his mother as she too was into the cooking scene. Because of his talent, I often find myself critical of the fare offered in many of the restaurants in our area.

What’s your music choice?

That too is very eclectic, although I love the music of the ‘80’s.’

Name your favourite city in the world.

I have not been to nearly enough places yet. So at this point, my favourite city would have to be Reno, Nevada.

Name your favourite world leader and why?

I am not very involved in politics, there is enough opinion without me adding my own.

If you had one wish, what would it be?

I would like to see the crisis in the Middle East come to an end. I would also like to do what I love, and that has always revolved around books, so I am getting there. The second wish will probably come sooner than the first.

What would you say you’re bad at?

I have never been a good details oriented person, I have a tendency to have my head in the clouds. I am more of an idea person, I am very visual and details tend to boor me.

Anything else your readers don’t know about you?

I am a mid-level manager in a large company. I deal with people on a daily basis and am involved in all aspects of the profits and success of my own particular part of that company.

What’s your favourite quote?

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” ~ Howard Thurman.

Why should a reader buy your book?

I believe it is a great book for the era we are in, it has a bit about renewal and is uplifting. It is a Fantasy and I expect it to create a feeling of hope in the reader. It is a fantasy about renewal, both personal and world. Renewal of resources is a common commodity and talked about at length, so this should also find some interest in a green conscious world.

What is your last word for your readers?

I hope you are able to enjoy the worlds I have put together. The splintered worlds are a beautiful community filled with extraordinary people. They care about their planets and care about the bounty that nature gives them. Magic is a unique and wondrous form of renewal and I hope you can see the beauty of the theme.

Butcher’s Boy is just a solid mystery/thriller mash up. It will scar the crap out of you though. The fantasy books are huge. All of them near, or over, 200k words.

I look around iStockPhoto or deviantart.com until I find what I am after. Then I buy the book rights to it. My friend Gary at GVTgrafix.com does the rest.

Do you think readers decide based on book cover or book title?


My books are lengthy. I’d like to think that they are purchased based on the free preview. A good cover or title gets readers to look though.

If you write fiction; What’s the source of your inspiration? How much of YOU show up in your writing?

I am inspired by life. I have too many characters for me to show up in my novels. A character in one of my fantasy novels tells a story about me though.

About your family/background, your location:

I live in the Midwest (USA) with my husband and two cats, but we’ll be moving to Arizona before the end of the summer, so we’re a bit in transition.

How and why did you decide to get published?

Well, authors really aren’t in control of getting published, but as far as writing, I’ve always enjoyed writing and wanted to tell my stories. Luckily, publishers and now readers have wanted to buy them.

What genre do you write?

I write historical romance novels.

What is the story behind your book?

In 2009, I had a traditionally published book from Avon Books called HER NOTORIOUS VISCOUNT with two secondary characters, Rage and Lucinda.


Lots of people wanted to know what had happened to them so I decided to write and independently publish a long novella with their romance called ROGUE FOR A NIGHT.

If you write fiction; What’s the source of your inspiration? How much of YOU show up in your writing?

I write early 19th century historical romance set in England, so it’s really not that much of ME. The sensibility just isn’t modern enough to write a fully modern character.

Use one word/phrase to describe your book:


Sexy, dark, emotional romance.

How have you found the writing process?

I’ve been writing full-time for over ten years, so I have developed my system of when and where I write. I have a page goal each day that I strive to meet before I can move on to other activities. I write five days a week and try to take weekends off (though, I’m not really good at the time off thing).

Do you have a blog? What do you write about?

I do have a blog at http://writerjennapetersen.blogspot.com/ I talk about writing, books and life in general there about once a week.

What books are on your shelf at home?

Right now, we’re preparing to move so I don’t really have anything on my shelf, but I have plenty on my Kindle, from some romances to a non-fiction book called THE HAPPINESS PROJECT where one woman took a year off trying to do things to make herself happier as a person in all areas of her life. Now, I just need to find five minutes to read.

Who’s your favourite author?

I don’t think I can pick, that’s like picking what my favourite movie is. I like different authors for different reasons and it all depends on what my mood is at the moment.

What are you good at as an individual?

I’m pretty good with the video games, my husband claims I can sing, but he’s biased, I like to cook and I think I’m ok at it. Also, I like to think I’m a good aunt, which is one of my most important roles.

What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why?

I love to read but I never seem to have time for it, so I fear I spend a lot of spare time either watching TV or playing video games with my husband. Sometimes, it’s good to just turn the brain off and play.

What are your other interests?

Playing with the cats, reading, TV, video games, spending time with friends. We’re in the middle of a move right now, so my brain seems to be filled with selling/buying house info.

I can’t pick. We have two cats.

I’m a pretty basic meat and potatoes girl. Give me a steak cooked well and a loaded potato and I’m happy.

Right now, I’m not really pleased with any of them.

My father worked for ABC News as a camera man and in 1980, his career afforded me the opportunity to live in Moscow, Russia for one school term. I then moved back to L.A. and stayed until 2009. Now I reside in northern California (wine country).

How and why did you decide to get published?

In 2004, I came up with the idea for my first book, The Virgin Diaries. I wanted to create a book so that virgins had a real, unbiased source to make an informed decision when it comes to sex. I also thought it would be interesting to read about other people's first time...to be a fly on the wall so to speak.
My second book; Ain't No Sunshine: Men Reveal The Pain Of Heartbreak was an idea my girlfriend had. She told me I should create a book that focused on how men deal with love and loss. I started right away and happy to report it is out in the world now.
What genre do you write? I create anthologies but I like to refer to them as "Reality Book."

What is the story behind your book?


Initially for The Virgin Diaries, I began collecting stories from women only and mostly from my friends. Once I broadened my search to the Internet, I realized I should include stories from men. I received a story from a lesbian and decided homosexuals should be included as well so that I would not leave anyone out. In 2005, My mother, Ann Werner, who is a fiction writer came on board and helped me collect the stories. She was responsible for most of the editing and together, we have created our company, Ark Stories. Arkstories.com.





We collaborate and just recently debuted our second title; Ain't No Sunshine: Men Reveal The Pain Of Heartbreak (Thirty-eight anonymous men describe in detail, what it feels like to lose romantic love.) We are THRILLED with the outcome and so far, the reviews have been very good.

How have you found the writing process?

I don't consider myself a "writer" as much as someone who questions and collects stories from others. I have always asked a lot of questions (my friends will back me up on this). And I like to focus on topics that are of interest to many. My approach is more personal rather than journalistic. I like to draw out the deepest emotions so that we can all see the similarities and differences we have. We can learn from other people's experiences as well as be entertained.

Do you have a blog? What do you write about?

My blog is titled, In My Head. That is where I spend time...in my head. I think A LOT! My blog is about whatever I am feeling at the moment. I do write about the subjects of my books too. My next venture will be starting a new blog and collecting stories about body/self image. I am very excited about it and it is a passionate subject for me.

What books are on your shelf at home?

I love scary books, so you will see a lot of Stephen King, Dean Koontz and F. Paul Wilson.

Any awards/achievement you want to share?

Not at the moment.

Who’s your favourite author?

Dean Koontz.

What are you good at as an individual?

I think I am good at making people feel comfortable. I strive to be empathetic.

What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why? I love movies and music!

What are your other interests?
I enjoy being with good friends, children and animals. I love to exercise, whether it's a workout or simply taking a walk in nature. And food, we can't forget food!!

Your favourite pet? Cats. I love all animals but cats are my favorite.

What’s your choice meal/favourite restaurant?
This is hard to answer because it really depends on my mood. Lately, I have been eating pasta but my taste changes. I like to eat healthy; salads, fruits, lean meats etc. I do have a passion for the sweets and you name it, I love it. I try to only have them on occasion.

What’s your music choice?

I love classic rock but my taste in music is quite varied. Classical, Rock-a-billy, The Eighties, and so much more.

Name your favourite city in the world:

This is hard. I have not been to too many cities. Rome is just awe inspiring. I have a love/hate with Los Angeles. L.A has such diversity and beauty but it is also crazy! I like San Francisco for it's amazing architecture.

Name your favourite world leader and why:

At the moment, I will say Obama. He has been working very hard to find a middle ground for the US and though I criticize government, I realize that I have no idea the kind of pressure he's under.

If you had one wish, what would it be?

I wish that I knew complete peace. But I wonder if anyone ever realizes this.

What would you say you’re bad at?

Following someone else's rules. I like to make my own way and do things the way I see fit.

Anything else your readers don’t know about you?

I am really from another planet!! Ha, no. I am pretty simple. Very emotional and it doesn't take a lot for me to be content. Love, friends, good food and making my books.

What’s your favourite quote?

"Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill."

Why should a reader buy your book?

My books are about people, their feelings and experiences. Anonymity allows for honesty, and we all want to know the private thoughts and feeling others have. The books I create, allows a glimpse into the minds of all kinds of different people.

What If Your Spouse Snores - Avoid Doing This...

And so what if your partner snores and you can't get decent sleep?

There are steps you must consider taking to cope. Avoid any decision that would create a gap in your relationship. Did anyone ever tell you life is a bed of roses? Yes. It's true. Life is a path filled with colourful, awesome, scented beauty lined with thorns!

1. Don't move out of your bedroom! No matter the circumstance, you've got to stick together, not fall apart!

2. Don't bitch, swear, moan, whine or generally make your life and your partner's miserable. Life is too short to be horrible to the one friend you should court for life. You aren't perfect either. Talk about your partner's snoring in light, jovial tones. It's not the end of the world.

3. Don't run off at the mouth to your family, friends and colleagues the first opportunity you get. Making your partner a laughing stock is not only childish and immature, it reduces your partner's value in the eyes of many. When they bad mouth him behind your back, don't complain!

4. Lastly, don't even consider jumping boat. Among your many weaknesses are you also a coward? How can a condition as curable as snoring make you dump the partner you swore to love? I say that's fair weather love! Grow up and consider the coping skills from my previous blog.

You're made of sterner stuff. Make your life as light hearted and peaceful as you possibly can, by God's grace.

What If Your Spouse Snores?

I'm determined to thrash the basic, knotty issues in marriage. Coping is what life is about. Moaning and losing precious sleep won't get you anywhere. Who told you life was a quick glide through?

I remember the day my husband told me, 'You snored a 'little' last night'. This comment was after eleven years of marriage! I'd never snored before then. Initially, I felt affronted. But when I saw the smile lurking around his teasing lips and his willingness to make light of it, I joined in the laughter. My response? I told him to nudge me if he hears me snore again. And, I nudge him too when he occasionally snores. Voila! Silly, one-off problem solved.

Dave married his princess, Isoken in a huge ceremony according to the Bini traditional law and custom. Afterwards, they entertained over eight hundred guests in an after church wedding reception.

On their wedding night, after they had done the expected, they went to sleep. Isoken woke up startled. She'd been rudely awakened by her husband's booming, snoring sound. On her fisrt night, she was kept awake. In the morning, she was grumpy, in a foul mood, stressed and red eyed.

The couple's first fracas was snoring related!

Here, I want to list a few practical tips. It's not the end of the world if your wife or husband has the habit of so many others. You can live with it and still enjoy a sound sleep. How?

A simple and quick nudge at the side to alter your partner's sleeping position can give you quick result. Sleeping on your back is a good position to snore. So, nudge them to sleep on their side. Try it, it works!

Another simple but effective solution is to wear an earplug! There are cute, colourful shapes available. Plug them in your ear and sleep through the snoring sound! One human weakness won't make you lose your will for survival!

Isoken should lovingly broach the subject. Laugh about it, tease her partner silly about the defeaning sound, and her loss of sleep.

Again, why not try an easy timing tactics? Go to bed a little earlier. When you're deeply asleep, hopefully, you won't be shocked into a sleepless state of anger?

I hear nasal strips works. Other cures includes nasal spray, anti snoring guard etc. Your doctor will advise you better. Together, you can can visit a doctor if all else fails. Give your partner moral support, next time, it may be your turn.

If your partner is overweight, start encouraging him or her to begin exercising and eating healthily. Your role includes helping your partner be the best they can be. Don't shy away from this hard stuff. Does your partner smoke? These (overweight and smoking) are contributory factors to snoring. What can you do? There are various support networks to help your partner step off the smoking ladder.

Go on and live happily ever after with your snoring or cured partner!

What If Your Wife Can't Cook?

This is a volatile topic especially to African men. Let's assume that after getting married, charming Chris finds out his beautiful and loving wife Bola, can't fry an egg without burning it. His options are to either put up with it or kick her out! Supporters of the latter view (to kick your wife out)will justify this decision by convincing you that the way to a man's heart is through his rounded stomachs.

This is a matter close to the heart of most men. A woman has to KNOW how to cook. This assumption now has broken legs. When I was growing up, I took it in turn to cook with my elder sister. Did I enjoy it at that time? No! But today, I'm doubly proud I can cook. I'm indebted to my mother's training regime for her girls, who have become wives.

Today in the UK, I hear girls openly declare on TV that they're cooking disasters! The saving grace however, is the pride and joy with which British/European men take to the kitchen like ducks to water. I take off my hat to the men in this society who have consistently emerged as great cooks. My all time favourite TV chef by far is the Italian maestro, Gino D'Acampo. Passion is big for me, and Gino ticks all the boxes when it comes to cooking with flair, passion, history, Italian expressions, sea load of jokes and smiles.

Oftentimes, I've watched how Gino has saved many women from their cooking disasters. So, if your wife can't cook, don't faint! She isn't the only one who can't. There are a number of things she can do to redeem herself. She can immediately take cookery lessons online, attend lessons or download recipes that she can try at home until she perfects it. I do it all the time with non-African dishes.

Chris will have to be patient, making do with sandwiches while his wife learns how to cook. He's got to encourage her, providing his taste buds for sensory sessions, while she's perfecting her skills.

She can also enlist a family member or friend to teach her how to cook your favourite dishes for starters! If you can cook as a husband, look no further. You can lovingly teach your wife how to whip up your preferred meals. After the cookery lessons, lay the table, eat together, and turn it into a romantic session for two!

Listen women! Even if your husband can cook, there's still no escape for you. You've got to learn how to cook. For how long do you intend to hire help or rely on takeaway? In Africa, if you can't cook, your reputation is soiled.

So, get cooking and have fun exploring recipes together!
