I'm delighted to be back with tips for Single and Married People.
1. Marriage is not a place for challenging each other verbally and physically. Save that for the boxing ring. It is not a place to practice cursing and swearing. Your words should praise and lift up, not tear down. It is a place where you listen more than you speak.
2. Marriage is not a place where you keep prayer and praising God out of the door. To stay together till death do you part, you need God at the centre of your marriage. Pray together and pray for each other.
3. Marriage is not a place where you hold on to grudges as if you are building up your credit in the bank. Let the annoyance, resentment and hurt go as soon as possible or it will fester and become a sore that does not heal.
4. Marriage is not a place where you sleep in separate bedrooms when you are angry. It is childish, immature and selfish. So pack your blanket and walk straight back up to your bedroom where you belong and resolve the conflict. Marriage is for grown-ups.
4. Marriage is not a place for hoarding money, gifts and surprises. Throw gifts and great
surprises around at all times to thrill your spouse. It adds spark and rekindles your romance and love. Go out for dinners regularly. Don't miss celebrating Birthdays, Christmas, Anniversary, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day.
5. Marriage is not a place for selfish people. You will have to make compromises, give in when you do not want to and feel good afterward because you LOVE. At other times, your spouse will give in to your point of view and decisions.
7. Marriage is not a place where you practice perfection. You are not perfect and will never be. Don't even strive to be perfect. So do not expect your husband or wife to be perfect. Marriage is the place where imperfect people grow, love and accommodate each other forever.
8. Marriage is not a place where you WANT to change your spouse. You have to know their weaknesses and be willing to live with and love them as they are now. If they change, thank God and if they do not, it is fine. Your happiness must not depend on your spouse changing or you will be full of resentment and unhappiness.
9. Marriage is not a place where you have multiple partners or engage in open relationships or flirt like a dog! Run away from adultery like you would from hell. Do not give your spouse reasons to be insecure because you flirt openly when you are with them. That's rude, selfish and hurtful.
10. Marriage is not a place to practice your pride, arrogance, over-bloated ego or cockiness. Humility and gentleness are two virtues you need to practice until it becomes your nature. Dump the bad habits fast if you want to last the long haul.
Come back next week for more.
