Is #God in Your #Marriage - #Advicecorner #Staymarried

Dear Romance Lovers,

Welcome to our first Advice Corner post of 2019.

Thank God for a New Year!

Over the last few years, I have written on various issues affecting marriages. To read any of my previous posts, click here.

I hope you had a fabulous Christmas and a great holiday.

For me, it was a lovely time spent with my family at home and in Church.

Today, I have a question for all families: Is God in Your Marriage? If no, read on.

Pre - Wedding for Christians

Before you say I do, it is important that you discuss how to raise your children in the way of the Lord.

In my opinion, religion is often a deal breaker. In many cases, it is one of the biggest causes of confusion, tension and break up of marriages.

Grave Mistake

Why do more and more parents whose grandparents are Christians in the western world ignore raising their children in the Christian way?

Have you ever seen Muslim children raised without reading the Koran and practising their faith?

It was only when my family and I moved to London that I heard people claim to be atheists. They say they do not believe in God.

Whether or not anyone believes these facts, it remains the truth.

1.God created the world and human beings.

2. God sent Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins so that we may have eternal life.

3. Those who believe Jesus Christ died to save them from their sins will not perish, but have eternal life with God in Heaven.

4. Those who reject or do not believe Jesus Christ saved them from their sins, will face eternal condemnation in hell with their master, Satan.

5. God is the author of marriages, starting with Adam and Eve.

My Question

How do married couples think that not praying to God or raising their children to believe in Jesus Christ as their Saviour is the best thing to do?

Some say the bible is old-fashioned. That is the biggest lie ever told to deceive and prevent many from knowing the truth.

Truths about the Holy Bible

1. The words written in the Holy Bible are the only effective weapon you have to withstand the devil and save you from destruction.

2. The word of God is quick and powerful when you speak them, but you have to believe and confess that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

All you have to do is look at London, the United States and other places in the world to see the calamity unleashed by children who are raised without the fear of God.

Only a God-less teenager or adult will pick up a weapon and kill his fellow man or woman.

God says LOVE your neighbour as yourself. If the teenagers who carry knives and guns have been taught all their lives to respect and adore God, to respect humanity and love others as they love themselves, it will be impossible to turn them into killing machines.

Remember

1. Parents and grandparents, you have Godly responsibilities to bring up your children, who are gifts from God in the nurture and discipline of the Lord.

2. You need to TEACH your children about God's love.

3. Teach them to respect and be tolerant of other people's views, presence and differences.

4. Celebrate the love of God in your home. Pray together, encourage one another and teach your children to respect elders and those in authority, especially their teachers.

Do Not

1. Raise children who take pride in saying, "I don't go to Church," or "I don't believe in God" and "I don't know God".

2. Condemn yourself because of the wicked things you have done. Jesus Christ died for you: adulterer, sex-maniac, murderer, thief, prostitute, liar, unbeliever, it doesn't matter what you did in the past, God loves you.

Have Faith

All you have to do is go to a private place - your office, the toilet, your bedroom etc.,

1. Tell God about your sins (confession).

2. Ask God to forgive you all your sins and wash you clean with the blood of Jesus Christ.

3. Tell God you believe Jesus Christ, His beloved son, died to save you from your sins and he rose from the grave so that you may have eternal life.

4. Turn away from your sins and ask God for help to start afresh (Repentance).

5
. Tell God you are ready to know Him and to serve Him, but you need His help.

6
. To get to know God, buy a Holy Bible or download one for free on your phone through your App Store.

To Build Your (and your children's) Faith

1. Read your bible every day. Follow your heart and open the bible. Read from any part.

Personally, I love to read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John to see Jesus Christ in action. To get to see in God in action, read from Genesis.

2. When you are confused about what you read, ask God to interpret so you can understand.

3. Also a great thing to help you build your faith is for you to join a Bible-believing Church near you. Attend Bible study.

4. Bring up your children to know and LOVE God.

Note

There will be trials, temptations, challenges, but you have to believe God has your best interests no matter how tough things get.

I pray for God's abiding presence on you and your family.

Are You Judgemental? #ShowLove #Forgiveness

Welcome to Advice Bench!

Today, I want to shed light on the consequences of judging others.

I came across a text and I found it useful and as you know, I love to share my discoveries with you.

We all know the story of the prodigal son who squandered his inheritance and ended up like a poor wretch living among pigs far away from home. One day, he realized his error and retraced his steps back to his father's house.

His father welcomed him back with open arms. But not everyone is as open-minded and forgiving. His older brother was very angry with their father for having a home-coming feast for a wayward child.

In our relationships and in our families, we can be very unforgiving, much like the older brother in the story.

Maybe your husband, wife or child is a spend-aholic!!! The way we deal with this bad behaviour is to be full of resentment, hurt and anger.

NOTE: When your husband, wife or child comes to their senses and acknowledges their wrong-doing:

Follow these steps:

1. Don't wait for them to grovel or beg before you forgive them.

I can hear you ask me, why? Because you are not perfect! Or are you? So stop wallowing in self-righteousness.

2. Show GRACE and stop being judgemental!

Holding on to grudges and being full of resentment is the recipe for losing your own inheritance! By not forgiving, you forfeit your own joy and the joy of knowing how much your husband or wife or child actually loves you.

3. Welcome him or her with OPEN ARMS.

Remember, they have experienced brokenness (being hurt & lost). There is no need to make them feel worse.

4. The 'lost' husband, wife or child needs HEALING and RESTORATION, only your LOVE can provide.

So help to restore your husband, wife or child and have a life-enriching relationship with him or her.

5. Don't listen to your friend, colleagues or family who might tell you otherwise. Ask yourself a simple question: 'If I were in his or her position what would I need? Welcome back or outright rejection?'

Finally: Show love and don't be an older brother who ended up losing more than the younger brother (he never realized how much his father loved him) because he was so judgemental.
