Hello Romance Fans,

I have Amaka Azie, a fellow Nigerian author based in the UK on Guest Interview today.

Amaka, the author of Melodies of Love is here to showcase her new release titled: THORNS and ROSES.

BLURB

Ifeoma and her sisters escaped an emotionally abusive father to start a new life in Lagos. She is determined to never let another man have control over her, even if that means never falling in love. That is until she meets Chuma, a wealthy and domineering man who is exactly the kind of man she is determined to stay away from but somehow can’t seem to keep away from. An unlikely relationship develops, taking them from joy to a devastating loss and finally to betrayal. Ifeoma must decide, but she is torn between her painful past and a chance at a future with Chuma…

Chuma is a cutthroat obsessive financial mogul whose sole purpose in life is to make his family name great. And he is determined to let nothing distract him from achieving his goal. But when he meets Ifeoma, an elusive, hardworking chef, he finds himself irresistibly drawn to her. They embark on a turbulent journey of friendship and love, which is eventually shattered by tragedy. Chuma wants to heal the rift that has grown between them and will go to any lengths to do so. However, he encounters secrets from her past...

Meet our Guest today

Hello Amaka, welcome to Author Interview. Please tell us a bit about you, your family and background.

I am Amaka Azie, one of five children, also as a twin. I was born in and raised in Nigeria, West Africa. I moved to England about nine years ago, and currently live in England with my husband and daughters.

Amaka, congratulations on your new release. Why did you decide to publish a book?

Thanks. It was always my dream to write. I have had so many stories in my head since I was a little girl. I had written a few manuscripts which I stored in my computer. I met an indie author who encouraged me to pursue my dreams and I decided to go for it.

Great decision. Please share the journey from conception to the publication of THORNS and ROSES.

I have always wanted to write about love and romance in Africa. Often literature written about Africa is clouded with negativity. I detest that. I love reading about a vibrant and exciting Africa. The Africa I experienced. So, I began writing a series about a wealthy Nigerian family. Thorns and Roses is the second book in the series. It took me about three months to write and edit. After the good feedback I got from my beta readers, I was encouraged. I am pleased to share the exotic and vibrant aspect of Nigeria and Africa through my stories.

Where did you get the inspiration for THORNS and ROSES?

Ifeoma, the main female character was one of four female children who endured emotional abuse from her father because he had no sons. Sadly, I knew a few people who experienced something similar in their lives, where they grew up feeling like a disappointment solely because of their gender. I wanted to bring some light to this through a love story. I’ll say I got the inspiration for this story from true life experiences shared with me by various friends and relatives.

What would be the best thing a reviewer will say about your new release?

That my story made them smile, laugh, cry, that it touched them. I feel any author would love to hear that their story brought out a wide range of emotions in readers.

What’s your one sentence pitch for your book?

More than a typical boy meets girl love story.

What else are you passionate about? And name one thing you are bad at doing?

I love watching crime television. I am fascinated with crime series. My personal favorite is the Law and Order series.

I am terrible at following recipes. Whenever I cook following a recipe, it ends up a disaster. I prefer learning a new dish by imitation. I have to watch someone else prepare the meal before I get it right.

Our readers are interested in your favourite food & drink.

Easy: My favourite meal is fried plantains and my favourite drink is a strawberry daiquiri.

What’s the most embarrassing thing you have done?

I was giving a speech with lipstick stained teeth, and nobody bothered telling me. It was only after the speech that someone alerted me to it. I was mortified. Now, I check my teeth before any public appearance.

Share your favourite quote.

For every little action, there’s a reaction. The quote is by Bob Marley in the song Satisfy my soul.

Amaka, it has been a pleasure having you here on GUEST INTERVIEW. We wish you all the best with THORNS and ROSES.

Guest Interview: Until Winter Breaks @ElanaJ #Romance #ASMSG

Flirty & Feisty Romance Novels - Hot & Sexy

Hello Romance Lovers,

On Guest Interview today, I have Author Elana Johnson here to chat with us and share her new release: Until Winter Breaks.

Please give Elana a warm welcome.

Blurb:

Following its prequel Until Summer Ends, Until Winter Breaks takes place in Jared Newton's estranged hometown, Redwood Bay, where he shacks up to escape his hurtful
breakup with his former girlfriend of three years, Carla. The breakup followed soon after Jared loses his job at his law firm due to a botched case that his senior partner pinned on him. Jared is left reeling and without any ties to the place he's called home for almost fifteen years. Upon entering his sister Sophie's house, Jared is welcomed in a not-so-friendly manner by Sophie's neighbor, Millie Larson, who has been watching the house while Sophie and her husband are away on vacation.

Although the first encounter is not very pleasant, Jared cannot help but notice Millie's beauty and the attraction between the two becomes quite obvious. As days turn into months, their attraction for each other transforms into deeper feelings and they fall madly in love with one another. But how can Millie allow herself to love again without guilt after losing her husband in a horrible cliff-diving accident? Will she surpass her demons and succumb to love or will Jared be left heartbroken and feeling lost once again?

Author Interview

Hello Elana, welcome to Author Interview. Please tell us a bit about you, family and background.
My name is Elana Johnson. I’ve been teaching elementary school for 17 years, parenting for 18, being a wife for 20, and writing for 10.

Elana, congratulations on your new release, UNTIL WINTER BREAKS. Why did you decide to publish a book?
My first published book was in 2011, and while it was in a completely different genre than my contemporary romances, I knew back then that I loved writing and I wanted to publish my writing to see if others would like my stories too. Since then, I’ve published, either with a traditional publisher or on my own, just over 2 dozen novels and novellas in a wide range of genres. My favorite by far is writing romance!
Two dozen books! Elana, you have been busy. Please share the journey from conception to the publication of UNTIL WINTER BREAKS.
UNTIL WINTER BREAKS is the second book in my Redwood Bay Romance trilogy. The first book, UNTIL SUMMER ENDS, was my second attempt at an adult contemporary romance, and once I’d created the little town of Redwood Bay, just north of the Redwood National Forest on the California coastline, I knew I wanted to spend a lot of time there. The series will hopefully have 4 or 5 full-length novels, and UNTIL WINTER ENDS is just the second installment.

It features Jared Newton and his return to his hometown after about a dozen years away. Jared is the brother of the heroine from UNTIL SUMMER ENDS, so the books stand alone – they are each their own complete romance from beginning to end – but they’re part of the series because they’re tied to Redwood Bay and feature some of the same supporting cast from book to book.
Where do you get the inspiration for your novels?
I just spend a week in Grand Cayman with 12 other adult family members, and one of them asked me this very question! I told them that I find it everywhere. In the guy standing in the security line at the airport. Why is he wearing that? Why did he choose that backpack? Those shoes? That hairstyle? Interesting people are everywhere and observation is free. So I make sure I get outside my walls and live life – because that’s where I find the most interesting characters. And romance is all about the characters (for me!) so I find inspiration for my novels in real people, from real life.
What would be the best thing a reviewer will say about your new release?
“The perfect blend of romance and self-discovery!” But really, that’s what I try to do. I want my flawed, broken characters to be healed as they realize they’re really standing in their own way from being happy.
So what’s your one sentence pitch for your book?
UNTIL WINTER ENDS: Can Jared Newton and Millie Larson navigate the obstacles between them to find a new happily-ever-after?
What else are you passionate about? And name one thing you are bad at doing?
I am really not athletic. Like, at all. You would not want me on your soccer team. Or baseball team. Or basically anything that requires running at all.

One thing I’m passionate about is learning as much as I can about things that interest me. I want to be a good teacher, so I spend a lot of time reading and trying new things. I want to be a good writer, so I take classes and attend conferences. I love learning new things and getting better and better at them!
Our readers are interested in your favourite food & drink. My favorite drink is hands down Welch’s grape soda. Sadly, I don’t think they make it anymore. So a close second is Cherry Limeade from Sonic. My favorite food is straight-up pepperoni pizza! If I can dip it in ranch dressing, I’m in heaven.

What’s the most embarrassing thing you have done?
Well, I’ve done a lot of embarrassing things, but one of my most recent was in the car. Where I live, the lights are all different. Sometimes the left turners get to go first, and sometimes one direction will turn left and go straight at the same time, then the other direction. It’s confusing, I’m sure.

So I was turning left, and I was waiting for oncoming traffic. The light turned yellow, and I thought I’d be able to turn left as the light turned red. But the cars coming the other direction didn’t stop. So I leaned on the horn, attracting all this attention from the college-age pedestrians nearby. And…I was the one who was wrong. The oncoming traffic still had a green light. But there I was, in the middle of the intersection, honking and causing general mayhem in front of lots of people. And I almost got hit to boot. It was really embarrassing.
Finally Elana, please share your favourite quote with our readers.
“Never give up! Never surrender!” ~Galaxy Quest. I enjoy the movie Galaxy Quest on many levels, and I especially love this quote from it.

AUTHOR INTERRVIEW -  CAROL PAVLISKY

Carol, tell us a bit about your family, background and your location.

I live on a cattle ranch in Texas, just south of San Antonio. It’s my husband’s family’s
land, and it’s been a great place to raise our five kids. San Antonio is a lovely city rich in culture and history, so it was only natural I’d use it as a setting for my novel, COLOR ME CRAZY. The hero, however, is a Texas transplant from England. Because there is nothing better than a British accent.

A British hero? That's hot. How did you meet your husband, Carol? Is there anything noteworthy about your meeting? And share with us what draws you to him?

Jeff is my high school crush. He proposed to me during my sophomore year of college
while we were backpacking in Big Bend National Park. Within a few years we were hiking trails with babies in backpacks! We still enjoy hiking and camping, and when we have vacation time coming up, we always pick a state or national park over a resort. In addition to being smart, funny, and a great dad, Jeff is also an excellent musician.

The hero in COLOR ME CRAZY is a guitarist, and several of the guitars mentioned in the story belong to my husband. We’re both huge Red Hot Chili Peppers fans, therefore, all five of our kids hate Red Hot Chili Peppers—which is a crying shame. Our oldest daughter is a classical pianist.

Okay, what is the story behind your book and how do you decide your book cover?

My novel is about Julian, a virtuoso guitarist (who was also a child prodigy
violinist) with a neurological condition called synesthesia. He sees colors as sounds, and
the inside of his head is a very busy place. He really doesn’t want to be a performer—not
even a little bit—and is happy to leave the spotlight behind for the peaceful sanctity of his
recording studio, where he much prefers making music. But when he falls in love with
Cleo, an out of work English professor who never quite got her groupie career off the
ground, he tries for a rock and roll comeback. It’s an epic disaster with both laughter and
tears, but eventually they rock their own happily ever after.

As for my cover—it looks like a magazine cover, doesn’t it? That’s because in the
novel, Julian appears on the cover of Rock ‘n’ Spin, the hugest publication in the music
and entertainment industry. A graphic artist on my street team made a teaser using the
magazine image, and when my publisher saw it they decided to use it as the book’s cover.
And I think the model is a pretty good fit!

Julian sounds like a rock star. Carol, have you ever experienced writer’s block and how did you tackle it?

Yes, of course. I experience block (and the self-doubt and misery that comes with
it) regularly. I tackle it by leaning on very accommodating friends with high tolerances
for whining and wallowing.

You have great friends. So what books are on your shelf at home and who are your favourite authors?

I read anything and everything if it holds my interest. In romance, I love Susan
Elizabeth Philips. I also love Diana Galbadon and I’m a huge Outlander fan. Outside of
romance, I adore Haruki Murakami, Muriel Barbery, Liane Moriarty, Dean Koontz…
The list goes on and on.

Yes, quite a list. What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why, Carol?

Concerts, hanging out with friends, and movies. And honestly, I enjoy a really awful movie almost as much as a good one, but it has to be REALLY awful, and it’s even better if I’m with my daughter. Awful movies are kind of our thing.

Thank you for coming over here today, Carol. We wish you the very best always.

Author Bio

Carol Pavliska began her writing career as a family humor columnist and blogger, a pursuit she abandoned when her children grew old enough to realize they were being exploited. To save them from further embarrassment, she turned to writing fiction. Her debut novel, COLOR ME CRAZY, is a steamy contemporary romance. The kids are still embarrassed.
Carol and her husband, both diehard Red Hot Chili Peppers fans, raise their vegan brood of
mortified offspring on a cattle ranch in south Texas. No lie.
