Everyone goes through periods of stress from time to time. It could be at work, in your relationships, with your friends or children.
"Stress is a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or demanding circumstances".
Many people handle stress differently. Some people bottle things inside, hiding how they really feel from the world. While others take out their stress on their family and friends.
Instead of taking out your stress on your wife or husband, you can now do the following:
1. To de-stress, do whatever activity makes both of you happy.
Activities you can undertake include:
a. Camping
b. Watching movies curled up on the sofa eating lots of popcorn and ice cream.
c. Playing board games or games on your phones.
d. Go to the cinema
2. Talk. Talk. Talk to each other.
a. Ask yourself questions.
b. How do you feel? Share how you feel. Answer as honestly as you can.
c. State your fears as Clearly as you can. Get it off your chest.
d. Ask: What is the worst that can happen? Discuss the worst outcomes. Come up with how to handle the various outcomes. Plan what you will do if the worst happens. Talking about it takes away the fear.
e. You can laugh about your situation. Laughing is a simple and free de-stress-er!!! Try it. Mock everything that is getting on your nerves.
Whatever you do, DON'T GIVE UP!
Go through these simple steps and see how you feel.
Hopefully, you will see your stress melt away.
Keep the cycle going anytime you feel stressed. If you are not sure if you are stressed, take this Free Stress Coping Skills Test.
