Quite often, I receive private messages from aspiring authors asking how to market their newly published books.

There are several ways you can market your books for free!

In the last 10 years of writing and publishing 34 romance books, I have learnt a few ways to advertise my books without a promo budget. I want to share the tips with you.

Take care of the basics such as:

Book Pricing:

I'm hoping the pricing of your book is affordable and competitive. For about 8 years, I priced my books at 99p! Now, I sell all my books at £1.99. I prefer a wider distribution for my books because I want more readers to be able to afford my books.

Book Cover:

Your book cover has to be attractive, so you can pull in new readers! The book cover is the first thing readers see.

Blurb:

Make sure your blurb is precise, teases the readers and you don't fluff about.

17 Tips To Market Your Book For Free!

1. Join as many Facebook book groups as you can.

Join groups for your genre. Be active in the core groups if you can. There are thousands of readers in search of books to read.

2. Come up with a punchy tag line for your book.

It's not enough for you to just put your book title and sales link. Tell the reader what they stand to gain from reading your book. Offer something in return for the sale you expect.

3. Post your promo.

Post your books on Facebook groups regularly and on Instagram, Twitter and all your social media sites.

Invite your friends to celebrate with you and invite other authors to takeover your page for a short duration. That way, you cross promote each other.

10. Share your posts regularly.

Building a brand, gaining loyal readers take hard work, consistency and patience. Keep at it even when you don’t see sales. Don’t be frustrated. If your books keep popping up everywhere, a reader will notice and give you a chance. If not, they will move on to another author whose books are always in front of their eyes.

11. I have 7 Facebook Groups.

Ask to JOIN my groups and promote your books. If you are lazy about marketing, then you are not ready to have readers open the pages of the book you worked hard to write. Believe me, I wish I did not have to market, but I do! I don’t have a budget, so I constantly find ways to promote my books without spending a dime!
