MY CHRISTMAS HIGHs and LOWs

This must be my favourite Christmas of all time. I have seen forty Christmas in my young life! The high of this season was the hype of what gifts I'll receive from my
family, friends and colleagues. My husband dropped hints of what gifts he wanted for Christmas. My son drew up a short list of his must haves. And my daughter mentioned the fact that specific gifts must 'appear' for her this Christmas.

Every magazine, newspaper and TV advert shocked me with an endless list of the perfect gift for my loved ones. As I commuted daily, the exterior and interior of London buses were glamorous commercial bill boards advertising perfumes, shoes, jewelry and the latest block buster movies. As I journeyed underground, the tube station walls and ceilings were all glossy wrapped with the finest watches, movies and thankfully, kindle books!

I drew a deep breath as I walked into the office. To my shock, my colleagues insisted
I play 'secret santa'. I got sucked into picking names from a hat. I  picked two names. My task was to buy gifts for two colleagues. Surprisingly, I swiftly caught the 'secret santa' bug. My head rocked with thoughts about the ideal gifts for my colleagues. Excitement quickly built up as I dreamt about a list of what I'll love to receive this Xmas.

On a cold and drizzling day, I walked for hours choosing and setting aside gifts on my list. I felt truly stressed! I agonized about how my working days were long and the weekends so short.

In my sixteen years career, this Christmas season is the first I have worked. I imagined a time when I'll have enough money in my bank account to buy the perfect gift for everyone my heart mentions. I smiled!

Days later, when I saw my colleague's face brighten up with joy as she received an autographed copy of Flirty & Feisty Romance Novels second title - STORMY DEFENSE, I knew her dream had come true.

On Christmas eve, my kids were up till midnight. My son asked, 'Mum, where are the gifts?' There are no wrapped gifts beneath the Xmas tree.'

I haven't wrapped them.' I replied. I only just got back from work, my brain yelled.
'Okay, am off to bed. Please wrap my gifts and place them here,' he insisted, pointing to the tree. 'Mum, you can hide gifts around the house too, so we can have fun searching...' my daughter added as they went off to bed.

My weary bones were screaming for rest. But there were gifts to be wrapped and turkey in the oven! To make our Xmas wishes come true, I dragged my tired legs up the stairs and spent the next two hours wrapping and hiding gifts as instructed.

On Christmas day, it was wonderful hearing my kids screaming in surprise as they raced around, stripping the house to find the wrapped gifts. My husband's expression was priceless as he looked into his bag of surprise. And when I received and unwrapped all my gifts - from family, friends and colleagues, settled down to a hearty feast with my family and watched JB and Fabrice jiggle their dancing shoes on Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, I had the biggest smile ever!

Thank God for another Christmas!

I hope you had a great Christmas too? I wish you a prosperous New Year ahead.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW with NINA NDUBUISI

MEET EROTICA AUTHOR - NINA NDUBISI

Author name: Nina Ndubuisi

Tell us about your family/background, your location:

I was born in the UK but spent my formative years in Nigeria. I am the first of 3 children of my mother. Unfortunately, I lost my mum at the tender age of 6. I am a qualified nurse and midwife but no longer practicing, rather I chose a career working with people with learning disabilities and mental health issues.

How and why did you decide to get published?

I jokingly started a story on Facebook. Every day I would leave a few lines leaving the readers captivated and in suspense making them want more, this went on for a couple of weeks before I was then to consider getting it published.

At first, I thought they were joking, until more people urged me to do it. I decided to contact a publishing company and despite the fact that the book is now being sold all over the world and now being produced into a movie I still think its all a joke and honestly cannot believe what has happened.

What genre do you write?

Erotica

What is the story behind your book?

Unknown to Nicholas, his wife of eleven years has been having an affair with their pastor who also happens to be his cousin, although his wife is unaware of their blood ties.

On New Years day, after accidentally knocking over his wife’s handbag, Nicholas finds a note that sets off a chain of events.

Secrets, sex, betrayal and crazy revelations abound in this hot, fictional thriller.

If you write fiction; What’s the source of your inspiration? How much of YOU show up in your writing?

My first book was just written on the “spur of the moment”. I just sat in front of the computer and bashed away as it came to me. If you read the book you can see that I honestly did not know where the story was heading, hence the twists and turns in the story, which leaves the reader captivated and eager to find out what happens next.

Use one word/phrase to describe your book.

A captivating, salacious thriller.

How have you found the writing process?

Hmmm *scratching head*, to put it simply I found it easy to write the first book, now I am in the process of writing the second book, I am finding it harder. The material is in my head, its just finding the time, as I am very busy promoting and marketing the first book. I just wish I could be whisked away to a dessert island where I can do nothing else but write.

Do you have a blog? What do you write about?

Yes I do.
Blog: www.ninasthoughts.com
I tend to have random thoughts and I just blog about them as they come to mind. Currently, I am on a journey to a “healthier me”. So recently, I have been blogging about my diet including my “highs and lows”.

What books are on your shelf at home?

Misery literature (true stories about people who were abused as children).

Any awards/achievement you want to share?

Having my book snapped up by a top Nollywood (Nigerian film industry) to be produced into a blockbuster movie.

Who’s your favourite author?

V.C Andrews.

What are you good at as an individual?

Cooking – I can make a meal fit for a king out of anything edible.

What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why?

Cinema, theatre, family outings.
What are your other interests?
Shopping, travelling, hosting dinner parties.

Your favourite pet?

I don’t have a pet but if I could, I would get a chimpanzee, I just love monkeys.

What’s your choice meal/favourite restaurant?

Chinese!! Sadly, I can’t have it as much as I would like to nowadays because of my diet Lol!

What’s your music choice?
R ‘n’B.

Name your favourite city in the world.

London – because that is home to me.

Name your favourite world leader and why.

Haven’t got one as I am not interested in Politics or current affairs.

If you had one wish, what would it be?

That my mum could be raised from the dead to see how I have turned out and see her beautiful granddaughters.

What would you say you’re bad at?

Tidying up and ironing.

Anything else your readers don’t know about you?

I am a mum to 3 most beautiful girls and a wife to the most patient and tolerant man in the world.

What’s your favourite quote?

Genesis 2:24: “for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined with his wife” – (Ladies marry a Bible believing, God fearing man and he will be yours forever...lol).

Why should a reader buy your book?

If you like a good thriller with a lot of “raunchiness” that’s not as voluminous as 50 Shades of Grey (yep I said it) then grab a copy of New Year’s Day.

Last word;

You mean you want me to say more? Okay, “Grab a copy of New Year’s Day and spread the word”.

Where can your book be found/bought/website:

If in the UK, by contacting me directly via www.ninasthoughts.com
www.smashwords.com
www.authorhouse.com

www.amazon.com

Are You Married and Still Flirt? #Staymarried #Marriage

Welcome to Advice Bench!

Marriage is a life time commitment you make to your spouse. There's no other definition. Don't worry about modern trends where marriages seem to last for hours, days or months. There will always be exceptions to rules. The trend is not the standard.

Flirting by married people can create serious cracks & strain in any marriage. You may not recognise you flirt when you're at work, at a party or on the beach. But
your partner or friends may pull you aside to tell you to stop flirting. You insist you're innocent. If you carry on, it can lead to violence from a very jealous or enraged husband/wife. Celebrities have ended their marriages because of flirty text messages.

So that we're completely clear about how to recognise flirting signs, here are a number of flirty moves from men:
1. They stare at you a lot & mainly straight in the eyes.

2. They tease or mock you to lighten your mood so you can smile.

3. They start a conversation with any idea that pops into their heads.

4. They find any excuse to brush past you to make physical contact.

5. They worry about you & the man is protective over you!

Wait! You're a married woman!!! The role of your husband is being taken over by a male friend or stranger. Be on your guard, but that's not to say that all men flirt.

It is easy to read a woman's flirting signs:
1. She makes extended eye contact, wanting to catch the man's attention.

2. She touches her face now & again and

3. She plays with her hair.

4. For that extra bit of attention, she bursts into fits of well-planned laughter and she flashes a smile.

These are all feminine body language that is as old as time.

When a married woman engages in these playful activities, it's not only embarrassing, but it makes you wonder what her motives are and what little value
she has for the life time commitment she made to her husband.

Wives, focus all your feminine flirty moves on your husband.

And Mr. Husband, learn to read the 'I need you' messages from your wife.

Remember that flirting is a blend of playful verbal communication & body language that have no serious intentions. I must also state that online flirting is common and it is as devastating as other forms of flirting.

The most stupid form of flirting in my opinion is the texting of photos of nude body parts. How daft is that?

When caught, the price to pay is heavy, resulting in a quickie divorce & children torn between parents. Why devalue your marriage to the point where a strange woman or man brings hard core evidence of your infidelity & stupidity? Why make a ridicule of the family you swore to protect? God help you.

Usually, people who flirt do it for amusement. However, a woman may flirt to see if she's still attractive. If her husband makes her feel attractive all the time by complimenting her dress sense, cooking skills, hardwork, dedication & beauty, she'll not need to seek another man's opinion by flirting.

A single man will flirt with a goal of finding a life partner. A man will usually flirt for casual sex, especially married men. But the 'other' woman thinks that his exclusive attention means she'll be upgraded to Mrs. Wife status. When her dream of achieving a permanent feature status in the married man's life is slow in coming, she tells anyone who cares to hear of his infidelity & her hurt. She screams of his betrayal to her!

But he's married!!! If he betrayed you, what do you call what he did behind his wife's back? Get real! Bag yourself a worthy man. You deserve better than a lying, cheating & shameless adulterous man. If he cheated on his wife with you, what do you expect from him? Loyalty & fidelity?

Temptation is everywhere, there are beautiful, barely dressed women walking around every corner. These women are not walking adverts for married men, especially the rich & famous. You took a decision to marry, take the decision to make your marriage as hot & exciting as you want, make your marriage the envy of others and the standard for others. Teach your partner to have sex in as many ways as you both wish. If you love women in topless clothes, mini skirts, bare cleavage...then buy those clothes for your wife and motivate her to wear them.

Stop flirting around with other women who will ruin your life.

Wives, if you want your man to be charming, you turn on the charm, please him, tell him you want him to compliment you. Men...listen to your wives!!!

My husband & I often discuss the role of the media in the break up of celebrity marriages. We have divided opinion. My husband is positive that the media publishes sassy stories with the sole aim of pulling down marriages. My opinion is simple. if the celebs engage in infidelity in any form, they give the power to the media to expose them. The decision to stay married lies with the betrayed spouse. I salute Bill Clinton, Wayne Rooney & Peter Crouch's wives.

Flirting is selfish & attention seeking, pure & simple. If you're married, avoid flirting like a plague except if your spouse gives you express permission to engage in such frivolity. Even then, be careful because the person you're flirting with might take you seriously.

As a couple, learn to accept the things you can't change & be patient to change
the things you can. You need wisdom to know the difference. Learn from other people's mistakes. Above all, invest time & effort to pray and to build your marriage. Who told you life is a walk in the park?

Happy days are ahead depending on your actions & inactions.

Thank you for stopping by. Please share your comments, so I know you stopped by. It gives me great pleasure to read your views.

You remain unforgettable,

Love
