#Marriage - What Happens When You Are Upset? #AdviceCorner

Hello,

It's time for another emotional therapy on Advice Corner.

Watching one TV series recently, I was shocked to see how quickly and how often people who are engaged run to their parents and siblings to discuss whatever problems they have with their fiancé/fiancée?

What do you hope to achieve by doing that?

Let me tell you what happens after you telltales;

1. You turn your parents & siblings against the person you want to marry or against your wife or husband.

2. After you settle your differences, your family will still hold grudges against the man or woman you love.

3. Trust breaks when your fiancé or fiancée, wife or husband finds out you've been sharing your private fights.

4. Your family will tell you what to do and how to handle the issues to favour you without consideration sometimes for your partner because you are family.

Think for one moment;

Who is in the relationship, you or your family?

When you run off to 'cry' to your family what you are saying is you are not matured enough to handle your problems. That's a shame. You need to GROW up fast.

If you are not matured, why are you in a serious relationship?

My Advice:

1. Speak about what bothers you with your fiancé/fiancée or your wife/husband

2. Take a break or step away to clear your head when the argument gets heated.

3. Train yourself to listen to each other.

4. Listening means you don't interrupt or second guess what the other person is saying even if you are fuming.

5. Hear what the other person is saying, not what you think they are saying.

6. Always remind yourself that you want to resolve issues because you have no back up plan or a get away plan from your engagement or marriage.

7. Tell yourself you are 'stuck' in your marriage. That way, you always want to resolve your problems. My husband says this to me when I'm upset with him. It always calms me down. So, I say the same thing to him when he's annoyed with me. It works every time.
