So I finished reading, Risking It All and here is my review.

My Review Title: Love is hard to find!
RATING: 3.5 STARS

Kenya is in love with Dave, but she cheated on him at some point and naturally, he switched off entirely. Kenya waited for three long years, hoping Dave would love her again and things would go back to the way it was before things went south. They had a friends-with-benefit type of relationship.

Thankfully, unfortunate circumstances pushed the sexy Simon Washington her way and it was great for a while.

To me, reading about Kenya's attempts to find love was a sad experience. Kenya was quite intense, miserable and sometimes boring in her outlook. In truth, I found it hard to relate to how she could hold out for Dave for three years even though he gave her no reason to wait for him after what she did.

However, the pulsing need and emotional connection between Kenya and Simon was sweet and simulating and I lapped it up, but it did not last long.

The situation surrounding Simon's fugitive status was disheartening but very real. I felt Simon's pain and I just wanted it to end.

Risking It All was an intense  and sad story for most of it and I wanted a fun and lively twist somewhere. I wish Kenya's friend, Vanessa was the heroine because she was more fun and upbeat. I like Vanessa a lot and I think she needs her own book.

The main reason I gave the 3.5 star rating is because I found out a lot of what was going on about dinners and events through the characters, especially Kenya (heroine). I prefer to experience the journey with the characters instead of the story being narrated to me. It dilutes the emotional connection I have with the characters.

Also, several scenes ended abruptly, in the middle of a conversation. It just cuts things off without warning.

Overall: Risking it All is a sensitive story with real life challenges handled by the characters in the best way they know.

My Favourite Quote

“You make me feel whole, Kenya. I'm finally the man I wanted to be. I didn't recognize how far offtrack I had strayed until I met you..."

 My Ratings:

I give 3.5 fruit bouquet  to Risking It All by Joyce d'Mot - For a story that shows how tough it is to find love sometimes.

However, there was no sustained

emotional and love connection between Kenya and Simon. I wished we saw them have a fun and exciting
relationship at the end. They deserved a 'happier' ending after all the troubles they went through.
