Behind the #Writing of Red Velvet Rose #Interview #ASMSG

Welcome to Inside Scoop!

On Inside Scoop, an author answers only 5 questions to give you insight as to why the story was written.

Today, I want to share the reasons for publishing my New Release - Red Velvet Rose.
As usual, you can also ask any other question about the characters and story.

Stella, please share with us what inspired you to write Red Velvet Rose?

Red Velvet Rose was written to satisfy readers demand for a follow up story on my secondary character - Zane Abdul - who featured in my previous steamy novella, Forbidden Dance. Zane was a hit with readers. He left readers demanding his story.

In Red Velvet Rose, Zane's heart had been ripped to shreds. So he decided to expand his car sales business from Morocco to Boston. Then, he met Gabriella, a woman way out of his league. But as Valentine day approached, he wondered if it was the right season to let another woman into his heart. Gabriella is chic, intelligent, adventurous and has a quirky sense of humour Zane finds irresistible.

Flirty & Feisty Romance Novels Readers on Facebook inspired the writing  of this story by suggesting my heroine's description and place of origin - Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.

How easy was it to write a Valentine Story?

It was pretty difficult. For the first time, I experienced Writer's Block. As at January 8th, I had not written one word and the story was due for release before Valentine's Day. I felt under a lot of pressure. So I posted my hero's photo on Facebook and I confessed to my fans I was struggling to write his beautiful story.

Zane Abdul - Red Velvet Rose
I was amazed at the responses I received from my readers.

When a male reader posted his choice photo of my heroine and another reader named my heroine, my brain was prompted to create a story. Suddenly, Zane and Gabriella would not allow me sleep. At times, I wrote down highlights for each chapter, but to my shock, these two characters did exactly what they wanted. Before long, their story was completed. And I was so relieved. Thank God.

Stella, which of the characters in Red Velvet Rose do you like most and why?

By now, you must know I'm in love with my hero, Zane Abdul. That has not changed. Although his personality in this story was slightly different from how he expressed himself in Forbidden Dance, I still fancy him a great deal. Faced with a completely different situation and a quietly sensual woman, he came out as my favourite hero of all time.

Zane is of Moroccan descent, he is charming and 'ruthless' in Red Velvet Rose but still very passionate and protective of the woman he wants. He is still the man after my heart.

Does any part of you or your experience feature in Red Velvet Rose?

Ha! All my books have a bit of me or my experience. And  this story is no different. Just as Zane felt as if Gabriella was way out of his rank, so my husband felt I was way out of his league when we first met.

But if two people fancy each other, they would move every mountain to be with each other. By the grace of God, my husband did not relent until he made me his wife.

Now Zane faces challenges from his heart and from Gabriella's family. I wonder if they would overcome their issues.

Finally, what do you hope readers will get out of reading Red Velvet Rose?

 After reading Red Velvet Rose, readers will note the following;
1. For single people, although family is important, they must choose their own partners for a lifetime of happiness.

2. Even though hearts break, there is a special person who will come your way, heal your pain and tell you, you're the best thing to happen in their life.

3. You have to create the perfect world you want with the special person in your life.

Thank you for going behind the scenes with us. Please share one quote from Red Velvet Rose with our readers.

“You’re the woman I never expected to fall for. And I fell for you pretty fast and hard. I know we haven’t been together for very long, but my heart pounds for you. And my body longs for you. My life is empty without you.” ~ by Zane Abdul.

When A Man Leaves...To Be Joined To His Wife #Newlyweds #Wedding

Welcome to Advice Bench!

Today, is all about the NEWLYWEDS.

One day, a man leaves his father and his mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united to become one flesh. Very amazing feat. Congratulations!

That is the start of a NEW FAMILY in the society. And I just found out that the word family means 'servant of the household' in Latin. In other words, the husband or wife is to act as the SERVANT of the other.

If only everyone who was married acted as the servant of the other, there would be no divorce, or separation or massive conflicts.

I have been married for sixteen years and I cannot boast of taking on the role of servant most of the time. Far from it. I like to have the last word if I know I'm right. A very wrong attitude I want to shed.

I want to share the purpose of the newlyweds (new family) in the society;

1. As a family, they will realize God's plan on the earth together.

2. You are to BUILD a common life that show FAITHFULNESS (i.e. no other partners) to each other.

3. You must be willing to LISTEN (keep quiet and open your ears) to each other.

4. Learn to FORGIVE (let go of hurts) each other. It is the toughest part. So start learning and don't quit until you master the act of forgiveness.

5. Share ECONOMIC risk with each other. Money should not divide your home but only let it strengthen your relationship.

6. Be hands-on parents and educate your children in God's ways. Don't allow your children take the rein of controls from you. Be worthy examples. Don't smoke and tell your children not to smoke.

As you join the league of newlyweds, I pray your new family life remains strong and a blessing to nations.

And for those couples who are wounded through their marriages, I pray for abundant grace and healing.

#Brides From #Africa #MoroccanBride #Weddings #NorthAfrica

Welcome to Brides From Africa

On Brides From Africa this week, I have brought you Brides From Morocco

My choice was influenced by the culture and setting of my new release; Red Velvet RoseThe Valentine Romance was partly set in Marrakesh, Morocco.

Pre - Marriage Custom

In Morocco, the Pre-Marriage Custom starts with the paying of a dowry that is spent on household items and furniture for the bride. The bride also receives other gifts such as golden jewellery, clothing and perfume from her groom every feast day.

Sugar symbolises a happy life. Milk represents purity. Other gifts include; dates, water, orange flower and henna, jewellery, bolts of fabric, caftans, shoes, handbags or perfume.
These gifts are typically arranged in very large flat silver coloured container and covered with a conical lid which is similar to the form of a big Tagine. The courtship period can last from six months to two years.

The bride is surrounded by "Neggafates" who are wedding master planners, since no wedding ceremony can occur without their presence. Their main task is to help with traditional Moroccan dresses, make up, jewellery and hair styling.

After dressing her in an elaborately decorated wedding kaftan (usually white) they proceed to decorate her with heavy jewellery and darken her eyes with kohl which looks a bit like thick dark eyeliner.

Days before the matrimonial event, necessities such as a mattress and blankets are taken to the bridal chamber. Customs require that the bride is given a bath in hammam which is a sort of milk bath that is meant to purify the bride. This act of purification is accompanied by beautiful traditional songs performed by the bride's friends.

Wedding Day

The bride and the bridal party proceed to have a beberiska ceremony in which their hands and feet are painted with henna. The bride's designs are always the most intricate and the various floral and geometric designs are meant to ward off evil spirits, bring good luck and increase fertility.

On the day of the wedding, the ceremony begins with song and dance. The guests gather in a large room.  The couple follow and the bride, dressed in a white caftan with matching jewellery heads to a large chair, called "the Amariya" along with her groom.

Four strong men carry the Amariya around the wedding room, so every guest gets to see and wish the couple happiness and good luck.

After a few minutes of touring the large guest room, accompanied by music from a live traditional band, the couple climbs down from the Amariya to sit in two comfortable chairs strategically centred in the room, where wedding guests have their pictures taken with the couple.

Throughout the ceremony, the bride changes outfits, adorning a selection stunning caftans justifying the reputation of Moroccan marriages.

The bride can wear as many as seven different outfits, with the last wardrobe change, in general, a magnificent white wedding dress.

In Moroccan weddings, exotic dishes are served to wedding guests including pastille (a pie in puff pastry stuffed with a fricassee of pigeon or chicken, almonds, sugar and cinnamon), Mashwi (baby lamb), Tajine (stew meat with prunes and almonds), couscous, traditional pastries and Moroccan cookies all served with traditional mint tea.

The guests dance from time to time to the rhythm of music, chat and connect with other guests and relatives.

Mother-in-law  Welcome

At the end of the wedding the couple are taken on a car parade ( a parade of  guest and family cars) through the streets and neighborhoods, stopping at specific spots (local beaches or parks) to take pictures with friends before the couple head to the house of the groom.   In some regions of Morocco, on arriving at her new home, the bride is welcomed by her mother-in-law who will offer her dates and milk as a sign of welcome and affection.
