Will he be her husband for a week? HUSBAND to RENT #CharacterInterview of Fara Damba

Fara, the absolutely gorgeous hero from Flirty & Feisty Romance 6th Novel; HUSBAND to RENT is telling us a bit about himself, and the woman who has a hold on his heart at the moment.

Enjoy our first Character Interview on this blog. There are a few interesting fictional characters still to come from other authors.

Author: Stella Eromonsere-Ajanaku

Book: HUSBAND to RENT

Genre: Romance/Contemporary/Multicultural/Interracial

Who are you?

My name is Fara Damba, the hero in HUSBAND to RENT. I'm thirty years old, six foot five with strong features and a lively moustache. My ex-girlfiend called me handsome and arrogant. I think I am self assured, confident and business minded.

Where are you from?

I am from the 'Smiling Coast of Africa', The Gambia, Banjul. It's a beautiful country for tourists in search of sun, abundant sandy beaches, delightful sea food, friendly people and a unique cultural experience. There's more to Banjul. It is the smallest
country in West Africa and is only six hours away from major European destinations.

Do you have any secrets?

Yes. Don't spread this tale. I once slept with a woman I picked up at the Nightclub in Banjul. I didn't even know her name. It was the first and last time. I didn't even share this secret with Otasowie.

What wakes you up in the middle of the night screaming?

Not having the woman of my dreams by my side. After I met Otasowie in Benin City, Nigeria when I went in search of my Grandpa, I became regularly disturbed. It was crazy not knowing what about her kept me awake because at face value, she isn't my type.

Tell us about the woman who stole your heart?

A woman with egg shell skin colour, attractive curves, glassy honey coloured eyes,
legs that stretch for miles, undeniably sexy dress sense, bold, expressive, flirty with an allure so attention grabbing, I never want to be set free. Her name is Otasowie Idah.

She isn't my usual type, but my restless heart has been captured by her smile and gracious heart.

What do you dislike most in her? Can you live with the flaws?

Before she proposed to me, she was very flirty and forward! That should have turned me off, instead I found myself being drawn to her. She's very flippant, matching my every word, asking questions when I need answers. I suppose I can cope seeing that she's temporarily mine.

How did you get drawn to her?

Her quiet dignity, posture and beauty at our initial meeting at the Registry Office. At our second meeting, I saw pain etched in her eyes. Pain she wasn't willing to share. I was curious. Then, she came up with her ludicrous offer that I should have run away from. I didn't want to run...and I'm glad I didn't!

What makes you angry?  What do you do to control your anger?

When my ego is trampled on or when am taken for granted. Once when Otasowie got me so wound up with her ping pong antics of being flirty one moment and freezing me out when it suited her, I was very rude to her. Afterwards, I wasn't proud of how I treated her.

I cool off by having mini self-talk sessions.

Who do you call when you are in trouble?

My friend and best man, Malick. We've been friends since university and we started our hotel business together a while back after I left my father's  business.

What lengths would you go to protect those you love?

I will swim across the length of River Gambia, skip across several mountains and move any barrier to protect those I love. After Otasowie became my 'wife' and my mother verbally assaulted her in my house, I told my mum where to take her canterkerous attitude.

Tell us 5 really embarrassing facts about yourself.

Five? Haa! That's a bit of a stretch. I burp loudly at home (only), I bite my nails now and again, talk to my self as if I were two people. That will do, any more, I may have to hide away.

What's the worst thing you have ever done whilst drunk?

Pulled down my boxers - back view only! Really crazy. That's way before Otasowie waltzed into my life.

Have you ever killed anyone?

Jeez! Never. Can't even consider it. Life is too precious and I fear God, the Creator. I love the human race.

Have you ever broken the law – if so tell us more!

Yes, I hardly keep the speed limit. Not sure I even know of its existence. When I drove to the airport in search of Otasowie, I must have exhausted the speedometer of my firepower car.

Have you ever had an affair/cheated on your partner. If so who with and was the affair discovered?

Not something I indulge in as a rule. But I have cheated on my girlfriend in the past. Only on one occasion. I cheated on her with a tourist on holiday from Canada.

My girlfriend caught me with hands around her shoulders on the beach. The tourist sang like a bird and I dropped both of them. More like my girlfriend told me to get lost. I learnt a good lesson.

What's currently in your fridge/freezer?

Damoda - meat stewed in peanut puree. That's always in abundance in packed containers. There's Chicken Yassa, that is chicken cooked with fresh lime, onions and ground black
pepper in my fridge. I love food, especially traditional Gambian dishes. My mouth is salivating already.
Barbecued barrauda, butter fish and spicy Atlantic prawns are also within reach. A long list of drinks fill up the fridge door and two shelves.

Describe the room/place in which you are right now?

I'm in the bubbling ancient city of Benin in my hotel room situated along the scenic tree-lined Airport road, hoping and waitng for my 'fiancee' to turn up.

What are your plans for the weekend?

I plan to take Otasowie out to the popular eatery in town where all the young people meet. She knows nothing about it. It is a great place to unwind. Suya is constantly roasting on the open fire, the bar is rowdy and noisy, and in the midst of the chaos, I get all the privacy I want with her...then, I meet her mother...

What are you wearing on your feet at the moment?

Leather sandals. A treasure to have in a sunny country with unbelievable coastal strip. Ideal for walking around. Allows my feet breathe.

If you had to throw out most of your possessions but were only allowed to keep one item, what would that be and why?

My bible. I can survive without many things, but my bible is my number one prized possession. It is the word that has changed my life for eternity. Can't do without my bible.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to share my inner self. I hope you enjoy finding out how my journey to Benin became a memorable one.

Best wishes,

Fara Damba.
